Regarding WoW emulators and scripted events
Hullo all,
So I recently installed an antrix private server for 2.1.3 and noticed a glaring problem. Sure, some spells/talents don't work properly or at all, but I'm more than willing to overlook those, considering I've endured the same on Blizzard's live servers. ; )
What literally bugs me is the lack of npc scripted dialogue or actions. Escort quests can't be done if the hostage lacks the will to move anywhere or say anything even after accepting the quest.=p Raid bosses don't scream their battle cries of unholy rage at you or enter phase 2/3/etc, and I'm actually missing the amusing chatter you'd normally hear from npcs around Stormwind city.
So, just put my mind at rest; do any of you enjoy playing with these npc scripted actions/dialogues on your emulators? If so, what're you running? (Mangos/antrix, what versions please) Or is this an unrealistic expectation of mine? :)
Thanks in advance!
Re: Regarding WoW emulators and scripted events
currently yes and no, while there are some servers that have SOME of the boss battle talk or even in chat form there aren't any (that I'm aware of) that can do scripted events...yet.
I agree it makes Ragnaros a little boring without the cutscene and smack talk or the different phases of bosses (which is was my favorite part when I play legit servers) but I remeber playing the 1st versions of the wow emulators years ago and we've come a long way. though not exactly like blizzard these servers still allow us to do things true wow players could only dream about (like flying around azeroth on a flying mount or taking down a 30 man raid boss with just a handful of your closest friends).

Bollocks. =p
Well, anyone know what's the best emulator for the least static world then? :D

Didn't you forget to compile instance scripts? because Rag is doing a lot on my server..
@Duredhel: Antrix :wink_6:
Re: Regarding WoW emulators and scripted events
Where can we find these instance scripts you speak of? :P
Re: Regarding WoW emulators and scripted events
@aceindy: Heh thanks man, you just made my day. Come hell or high water, I'll get my server to have interesting bosses like your's. Now to go run through whatever I can find about Antrix...
Re: Regarding WoW emulators and scripted events
antrix has scripted boss battles -- its all configuration with your database. If you're willing to spend the time you can make it do almost anything you want.
