Agree'd with Shag; also Camtasia and Dr. DivX will help you with better compression. Either way this video is helpfull!!! Thank you for the post. It's going to the RFT immediately. Also for those with codec problems. Try downloading and installing Ace Mega Codec Pack.

Re: [GUIDE][VIDEO] Video guide for setting-up a PT server.
1) Any. (preferably one that hasn't been used before. Note the problems between Xtreme and Xternal and eXtreme all of which refer to themselves as XPT. Not a problem, but confusing. Also RPT (Real, Relm, Renaissance?)
2) Any, but don't tell anyone else.
3) Don't resurrect dead threads (last post September 2007) instead open a new one in the main section and link to the dead thread you are talking about. (It's in the forum rules)

Re: [GUIDE][VIDEO] Video guide for setting-up a PT server.
I could still understand it even with the poor quality so its okay

Re: [GUIDE][VIDEO] Video guide for setting-up a PT server.
Because it was worth it, I made it available on my PT YT account. Can't post the sound track (copyright) so I've dubbed an audio commentary. (might be useful)
Due to Xinos request, this is not listed publicly on YT, so the only access to it is from the URL here... please respect Xinos wishes, and don't reproduce the URL on other forums. Thanks.
I'll try to get the download URLs listed in YT overlays as and when I can, but I'm not confident that this is worth the multi-lingual subtitles of my last major video guide. If you disagree, let me know.
I *am* planning a similar guide using Server 2008, since I've had so many problems with Windows 7. It will be full 720p HD footage and a similar quality to my last guide on disabling the XTrap requirement. (no fuss or faff, pan and zoom for readability etc)
It's under construction, but until I can get the time to complete it, this is pretty good for English speakers.
Turned out it's about 48 seconds longer than YouTube will allow, so it's split in two parts. :$: Sorry.
Interestingly Vidome don't seem to have the same problem. To secure it against non-RaGEZONERS, it is password protected.
The Password? "RaGEZONE" of course. ;)

I reposted MiKEs' thread from a backup I had here

Re: [GUIDE][VIDEO] Video guide for setting-up a PT server.
How can i make the website im confused about that part in the video
-
Re: [GUIDE][VIDEO] Video guide for setting-up a PT server.
It isn't really covered in the video, and isn't strictly speaking part of setting up a PT server.
All he uses is a single ASP page to allow easy setting up accounts in the SQL database. As I mentioned he uses Baby Web, and I guess there is the advantage that that works exactly the same on every version of Windows, with the registration page of QuantumFusion. (it has some "issues", but it's pretty simple to follow and adapt) Can't find a link right now and have to go to work, but if I can't I'll re-upload.
--- Edit ---
Done, in one of the many cross thread requests made on that subject... by the same user.

Re: [GUIDE][VIDEO] Video guide for setting-up a PT server.
That's the third time you asked the same question across threads, and that is worthy of "infraction". I've already uploaded, and shared that with you elsewhere.
Find the forums rules, read them and learn. Thanks. :D:
--- EDIT ---
Actually, re-reading them my-self, there is no mention of "cross-threaded posting", though that is a common courtesy on similar forums. Only a note not to keep asking the same question. So... my bad.

Re: [GUIDE][VIDEO] Video guide for setting-up a PT server.
Awesome, maybe if you can you can make a video how to set up clan system and IIS with PHP ;)

I'm not sure if you are referring to this comment I made, or speaking to Xinos directly AB.
If you are referring to *my* comment, then I had produced my test run using ASP .NET rather than PHP.
I know IIS can do PHP, but it's not optimal for it. (my guess would be that something like Cherokee would be "optimal" for PHP, but not great for PT) ASP, or ASP .NET would seem to be "optimal" which-ever way you look at it.
I'm still trying to figure out a true and correct register.aspx, as opposed to a back ported classic ASP one though.
These guides do stick around, so I'd like to get it as complete and "correct" as possible.:D:

If you have problems with PT server on Windows 7 (64bit) than I can help you; I am running PT server on w7 for a long time.
Here is my REG configuration:
It have some extra records but they will not work until I fix SQL and CLAN dll. Rest is exactly the same as on Win XP.

Why bother? Registration (if thats what your script doing) is simple, just find some good PHP example and edit it for PT. Open source project are always full of examples.

We where trying to work through it in another thread, and simply came to the conclusion that it would not work. :(:

Why do you use it?

Except the server never "starts", as if *SERVER_AUTOSTART isn't in hotuk.ini, even when it is.

Because I don't want some pages ASP, some ASPX and some PHP. I don't want to add a PHP module to IIS at all, and haven't needed too as yet... but I do still have Classic ASP on the registration page.
I'd rather it was all ASP DotNet.

Because it fixed my *SERVER_AUTOSTART problem on W7? ;)
PT server is doing it by default and reading registry before hotuk.ini.

Hmm... yes, but on other OS, it's absence is treated as "follow what hotuk.ini says instead"
If it makes a big difference, then that would be a good reason.
