[Xbox 360] Red Lights Of Doom [Xbox 360][Help]
I tried to put my Xbox on yesterday, and the light started flashing red !
And from now on, it wont activate.
Does anyone know how to fix this ?
 :construct
OffTopic :
I am getting a PS3 soon with a choice of 3 games.
I don't know what games to get, I want to get Rainbow 6 Vegas, or another war game called Resistance or something.
If anyone has any good games, please post the names.

The red ring of light is to show there is a hardware problem, you can look up what the lights mean, but it's very likely that you will have to send it to Microsoft.

does it light up the 4 sectors?
Some info

Re: [Xbox 360] Red Lights Of Doom [Xbox 360][Help]
If you have three red lights you must call up Microsoft who will either try to repair it or, the more likely scenario is that they will send you a new Xbox if it is still under guarantee.

Re: [Xbox 360] Red Lights Of Doom [Xbox 360][Help]
Two red lights = overheating
Three = hardware failure
Four = disconnected cable
Also fail for getting a PS3.

They don't give you a new system. They will send you someone else fixed machine and yours will go into the pool.
So if it's under warranty call up MS and ship your x360 to them at your cost. Then wait 2-3 weeks to get someone else's messed up unit that has been fixed.
Or you can just go out and buy a new system. *cough*and return your messed up one*cough*
The choice is yours.
And for the PS3. Resistance is a kick ass multiplayer game. There is also Oblivion if you haven't already got it for the x360. Motor Storm is a kick ass game. The Darkness and Ninja Gaiden are spoused to be good games also.

PS : I have Oblivion on 360 but I wasn't into it much.
Thought it was too slow of a story.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but they been recently sending out some new consoles here in the Netherlands, me being one of them, and it's truely a brand new console.

try to turn on your controller after turning on the power.

They might be doing that here no too but I don't know. All I've ever heard was tons of complaints of getting a used system back. Especially here in North America.
Would be cool to return one of the old units and get back one of the new HDMI ones. :icon6:

Re: [Xbox 360] Red Lights Of Doom [Xbox 360][Help]
They have been shipping a lot of used ones here aswell, but this stopped a short while ago.
It might actually have to do with the HMDI version, that they are just ditching their regular premium models.
Ah well who cares... i got a brand new one, question remains how long it will work before shit starts again... i can tell you this though, it will require a lot of willpower to not get a PS3 then.

Yeah... The reason for most people buying the PS3 is that their x360 died. Shame really. Though the one great thing about the PS3 it doesn't fail like the x360.
I've had it since Feb and it has yet to freeze.

Re: [Xbox 360] Red Lights Of Doom [Xbox 360][Help]
I read on the internet there is a temp fix for the red light. Search GameTrailers for the Towel Trick or Google for it. Shows you a video of a bald man telling you how to fix your xbox360 for 5days.

Re: [Xbox 360] Red Lights Of Doom [Xbox 360][Help]
Well it's to soon to crown Sony yet, they messed up a lot with the PS2's aswell... i mean we got a PS2 here (not mine) that is completely messed up, it was one of those models in which Sony offset the laser so that it would have trouble reading copied games... not only has it that problem, but it also has problems with reading originals. In America there was a lawsuit and Sony was forced to give the owners new ones, but that never happened here.
There are a lot more problems with various models so it remains the question if Sony doesn't screw up soon again with newer models.

I remember that GohanRZ, adjusting a cog less than a millimeter because of a mis-aligned laser. Sony are truly idiots.

Re: [Xbox 360] Red Lights Of Doom [Xbox 360][Help]
Have you tried the towel trick? wrap it up in two towels and turn it on for some span of time(like 15 or 5 min or sumthing like that) then turn it off for a while. and then turn it back on. of course this is a rumor and there was a video of it working somewhere but not sure if it was real or not (looked real enough lol)

Re: [Xbox 360] Red Lights Of Doom [Xbox 360][Help]
Here's a general guide:
ONE RED LIGHT - This is the worst one. It's a serious hardware failure and can't be solved by restarting the machine. It's rare, but if you do get this error message, a quick call to the tech support line in the manual is in order to get your console replaced.
TWO RED LIGHTS - This is a very rarely spotted overheating error. Switch the machine off and let it cool down.
THREE RED LIGHTS - Bad news! This is the hardware failure message. It can also be caused by a power supply failure though, so try powering down ans cooling everything off before panicking and crying.
FOUR RED LIGHTS - TV cable not connected properly. Don't call Microsoft about this. They'll just tell you to plug it in and you'll feel very stupid.
WIRELESS CONTROLLER BUTTON FLASHING - Everything's okay, you just need to charge up the battery.

Re: [Xbox 360] Red Lights Of Doom [Xbox 360][Help]
Yeah, I've looked it up, and i'm sending it off to Microsoft tomorrow.
I'm keeping hard drive though.
Hope they send another one with new Xbox ! xD

It works, but i don't see the point to it, because while i doubt anything will go wrong, it's still not smart to do, besides you gotta send it sometime...

To be honest. That's probably the dumbest idea I've ever heard on fixing an x360. Doing that is the best way to cause heat damage to the thing. O.O

Re: [Xbox 360] Red Lights Of Doom [Xbox 360][Help]
My first one never broke and I had it for a year, the reason i returned it and got a new one it was because my DVD rom was going bad, funny thing is I've never gotten the 3 red lights with my first one. the new one is doing good so far!

Well it can't really be damaged, when it gets hot it just disables most, if not all, hardware to keep it from burning out.

Re: [Xbox 360] Red Lights Of Doom [Xbox 360][Help]
My 360 was out of warranty, but MS said it gets put back into it if you have the red lights problem. Been a month now and no sign of my 360 back lol.
