My point of view with Habbo Hotel
Ok, this has been bugging be for a while.
We all come to RaGEZONE because it is basically the home of private MMORPG development. RaGEZONE provides its users with a various amount of MMORPG server files for people to set up their own MMORPG servers.
As quoted from Google, "A massive(ly) multiplayer online role-playing game, or MMORPG, is a multiplayer computer role-playing game that enables thousands of players to play in an evolving virtual world at the same time over the Internet." In MMORPGs, you can level up your character by killing a variety of monsters. These monsters can drop various items that can be used in trading or equipment for you to use on your virtual character. You can also complete quests for various rewards and train your skills so they can be more efficient.
What is Habbo Hotel? As quoted from the Habbo Hotel website (Habbo ~ Habbo USA), "Habbo Hotel is a virtual community where you can hang out with friends, design your own unique space and create your own games and competitions." It is basically an advanced chat room where you can just 'hang out' online with friends.
Now on to what made me make this thread. RaGEZONE is a forum for developing and sharing MMORPG files. Habbo Hotel is no where near the category of a MMORPG. I ask you this; Why is Habbo Hotel on RaGEZONE if it is not a MMORPG?
Some people may consider this thread silly, or just plain stupid, but I don't care. Habbo Hotel is clearly not a MMORPG, so it shouldn't be here. Thats my opinion and I'm not changing it.

Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
Well the habbo section has now prooved it self to be one of the most popular section on RZ...
This gives ragezone more members which can then move to other sections, I think the habbo section is a great add to to this forum.

Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
then the disease will spread all over RZ

Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel

If it's true, we're learning stuff like you are.

Is it just me or am I the only one who's noticed there are other MMO genre's resent among this forum?...
These are the genres I'm aware of:
RPG
FPS
DG
There's probably a few SGs in there too.
-
Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
Okay. I know what an RPG is, and I know what an FPS is. What are DGs and SGs?

Dance Game
Sports Game
And for future reference:
RPG - Role Playing Game
FPS - First Person Shooter
DG - Dance Game
SG - Sports Game
TG - Tycoon Game
R - Racer (There's only 4 in known-existence)
MG - Manager Game
RTS - Real-Time Strategy
VSG - Virtual Sex Game
CAP - Collaberative Arts Project
And then you go into things like BBG... But I can't really be assed to explain that.

The main flaw is that you are comparing to just mmorpg players...
What about the coders that create server programs and the people who create sprites/skins? etc...
Your logic fails.
Crash

Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
Quote:
VSG - Virtual Sex Game
There's a MMOVSG? Awesome, post one. =D
-
Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
Zoomtang
Sex Station 7
Dream Stripper
Sociolotron
XOX City
And Second Life also supports some VS.
...To name a few.
Btw, MMOVSG can also be interpreted as an:
MMOEG - Erotic Game
and
AMMORPG - Adult Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game
-
Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
Well, every game here has some sort of leveling system or some kind of way for you to play against other players. Habbo is just a chat room.

Little good came from the MU section, and this is even worse... so how do you figure that is a great addition to this forum?

Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
Just stop the habbo bashing, it's getting old. And it's not like anything said here is going to change something in the habbo section.

Then I must use this:
http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/3...erslrg5dp0.jpg
to make you see Ron's Point-of-View.
(If you didn't get it, it's from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie)

Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
You respect your country? Well it's a good thing you do, because the rest of the world doesn't. ;)
Btw it's not a flame, it's just hard to imagine to respect a country that has such a horrible history, that plus i don't see why anyone should respect their country, or be proud to live there (like the Americans say... proud to be American)

Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
habbo is a chatroom, nothing else, you can walk around but all you do is chat.
but this wont do anything.
-
Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
In my opinion, Habbo Hotel is all well and good if you want to waste a lot of time and you don't have anything else to do, you're extremely bored or you just want to waste your life playing a "game" that is full of idiots who consider a bunch of malformed, indentical, pixellated cartoon characters sexually attractive. To be honest, most of the regular people on Habbo Hotel (you can tell them easily) really are more than regulars. These people seriously, seriously, live their lives on this goddamn thing. They've quite literally absorbed themselves into this collection of pixels on their monitor that represents them. I've seen people with cyber families and cyber homes on this thing, with the dads going to cyber jobs in the hotel. That isn't healthy.
If anything, check out Habbo Hotel only if you want to mess with the brains of sensitive blowhards. You'll realise how truly lucky you are to be yourself whenever you delve into this obscure world of sleazy online sex, anonymous relationships and pathetic clingyness.
I agree with the OP, Habbo Hotel is not a MMORPG and should be deleted or replaced with a link that leads to google or any other search engine.

Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
It isn't up to you guys what happens to the Habbo Hotel section.
Like KyleEnos said, there are more than just MMORPGs in RaGEZONE.
Yes, it's true, there are people who are obsessed with Habbo to the point where it becomes unhealthy. One of my best friends spends over $600 US a year buying "Habbo Credits".
On the other hand, there are people who play "real" MMORPGs in a similar manner. I once saw on the news that there was a guy who wouldn't leave his character alone for more than half an hour for fear of being attacked and losing all his progress.
This guy had his computer running 24/7. He moved his bed in front of it! He sleeps for half an hour, then plays for about 3 hours, then sleeps again. All he does to play is wake up, sit on the side of his bed, check what progress his character made through the night by means of auto-respond-to-attack mode, stores away the loot and replenishes his health, then goes straight back to the monsters! He just has everything he needs in the real world brought to him.
Then there was a bit about how he hasn't left his bedroom in a year, all his friends have left him. He exists virtually, and that's the end of it.
Habbo provides entertainment for a certain type of person. MMORPGs do the same for a different type of person.
It all depends on what entertains you.
If you guys want to laugh in the faces of "idiots who consider a bunch of malformed, indentical, pixellated cartoon characters sexually attractive", be my guest.
But these "idiots" laugh in the faces of "sad computer geeks who exist virtually, and get 3 hours of sleep every day because all they do is hack pixel monsters to death with pixel swords".
The Habbo section isn't going to be wiped off the face of RZ forever simply because, in it, you don't play a sadistic bastard who kills things for pixel gold, and then says "omg we so pwnd dat troll. We is da 1337."
Rob.

Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
I say nuke the section. But that will loose members, and cause spamming, flame wars. Nothing will happen with Habbo Hotel, it will stay here forever..
-
Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
Grab your guns and storm the front,
We're going in
-
Re: My point of view with Habbo Hotel
Get ready to meet the Habbo section's 1337 pixel weapons =P
Don't forget it's coders. They will use scripters to turn you into malformed, identical pixel characters =0
Not to mention the disclaimers =( you'll be told to piss off or be fined $1000!
Violent pixel death awaits xD

Yours, or anyones elses opinion on MMORPG's is of no concern to this site, this site was created for a MMORPG called Legend of Mir 2, and was later expanded to be a home to all MMORPG's in 1 way or another. Habbo is not a MMORPG, and therefor doesn't need to have any sections for it.
While the line between Habbo and some gamers might be fine, the fact is that Habbo is a virtual chat program, whereas most MMORPG's really are a game, and even though the motives for most addicted players might not be the gaming part, but rather the social side of it, doesn't make the 2 the same, Habbo really is quite a lot worse, because it's that side of the MMORPG's that make those games bad, so you take the worst from MMORPG's, and you put it in a "game".
What crack is to cocaine, is Habbo to MMORPG's.
