Hey, let's get one thing straight, I hope I do NOT confuse you in this. If anytime you are reading and don't understand it, please post it here and I will change/fix it immediatly. You can also PM me.

Why am I doing this? Because I know for a fact that sometimes in your life, you get bored, or the internets down, or your sick of LGGunZ for the day, you can ALWAYS edit it.
Let's get started, shall we?
Before starting to edit anything, you must have the following programs
- DDs Converter
- Mrs Unpacker
- Winrar
To download all of these 3 things, please go to my FF page and download them.

Please tell me if ANY of these links are broken/don't work.
Downloaded all three of these files to all one place, ex. My Documents. After all three of these files have been downloaded,
run Winrar and install it to your computer. After that, right click 'dds_converter_2.rar' and click open with, then click
choose program and find Winrar archiver. After you have found it, click open with, winrar archiver and a screen should
appear. Now click 'Extract To' and choose Drive C, Documents And Settings, <The User You Are Logged Into> and extract it
there and repeat with the 'mrs.rar' file. Now go to your LGGunz folder and make a backup of the map you want to edit.
Paste it into the Documents And Settings folder.
Check: Make sure you have these files in your <User> in Documents and Settings:
- a file named DDS Converter 2 (It's the installer)
- a file named zlib.dll
- a file named mrs
Run the DDS Converter 2 installer and install it to any destination.

Now that you have everything, go into C Drive > Documents and Settings > Program Files > LegacyGamers > GunZ Online > Maps > and pick any map you want to edit, copy and paste it into <User> in Documents And Settings.

Step 1) Click start, run and in the box write "cmd" without the quotation marks.

Step 2) Now type "mrs.exe d <map>.mrs>" - replace the <map>.mrs> of the name of the file you want to
edit. Let's say if you wanted to edit the map "Town", you would type "mrs.exe d Town.mrs" exactly how you see it without
the quotation marks I included. Yes, there are spaces in between exe and d, and d and Town.

Step 3) Now go back to your <user> in Documents And Settings. A folder should appear named the file you want to edit.

Let's say you wanted to edit "Island", you would type "mrs.exe d Island.mrs" without the quotation marks. Now there should
be a bunch of texts lines going down stating files. Go back in your <User>, a folder should appear named "Island".
Step 4) Go into that folder there are files ranging from .DDS files (DirectDraw Surface files) to XML documents.

Step 5) Now open DDS Converter 2. Under the tab 'Look in', go to <User> and double click on the map you want to edit.
Step 6) The white square is blank. Look down and there are 4 tabs. Top one "Image File List", Second one "Input Format", Third one "Output Format", and the last one "Output Folder".
Step 7) Under 'Input Format', click the option 'DirectDraw Surface (*.dds)' Now files pop up in the white square.
Step 8) Under 'Output Format', click the option 'Windows or OS/2 Bitmap (*.bmp)'
Step 9) Under 'output Folder', make the destination to <User>
Step 10) Now highlight all of the files and click 'Convert'
Step 11) In <User>, you should see many .bmp (bitmap) files that are all pictures. Note: You should NOT have deleted the original .dds folder of the original map you wanted to edit.
Step 12) Open up Paint/GIMP/Photoshop and edit all of the files however much you want to.
Step 13) After you are done each picture, just click Save, and click Open, onto the next picture. Note: DO NOT EDIT THE FILE NAMED minimap_<map>.bmp - <map> means the map you are trying to edit. Let's say you're editting Mansion, DO NOT EDIT THE FILE NAMED minimap_mansion.bmp, leave it how it is.
Step 14) After you are done editting all of the pictures, you want to have a name for your map. Think of one.
Step 15) Go make a new folder in <User> and rename it your map you want to name it. Let's say you are editting Stairway and you want to edit it and want the map's name "Cool Stairway" then rename the folder to "Cool_Stairway" Note: If you want your map to have more than one word, you MUST have underscores (_) after each word. Maps that you want to only have one word as the map's name, rename the folder to that one word. Let's say if you wanted a map named Crazy, rename the folder "Crazy" without the quotation marks of course.
Step 16) Place all of the editted .bmp pictures in that folder.
Step 17) Go into the original .dds folder of the map you wanted to edit that you should NOT have deleted.
Step 18) Look for these files: <map>.minimap, <map>.RS, <map>.RS (ones a xml document and the other is a rs file), <map>.rs.lm, <map>.rs.col, and <map>.rs.bsp - Let's say you wanted to edit Town, those files would be named: Town.minimap, Town.rs, Town.rs (ones a xml document and the other is a rs file), Town.rs.lm, Town.rs.col, and Town.rs.bsp.
Step 19) Now that you've found these files, put them in your editted renamed folder.
Step 20) Now rename all of those files EXCEPT the <map>.minimap file to your map's name. Let's say I wanted to edit Castle and rename the map to "Crazy_Castle" without the quotation marks. I would rename those files like this: Crazy_Castle.rs, Crazy_Castle.rs, Crazy_Castle.rs.col, Crazy_Castle.rs.bsp, Crazy_Castle.rs.lm and the <map>.minimap would remain Castle.minimap. The same thing applies to if your map was one word.

Step 21) Let's recap now: you have these files in your renamed folder;
- editted .bmp files
- an uneditted minimap_<map> of the original map
- 5 files renamed
- 1 file unrenamed <map>.minimap
If you have all of these checked please continue, if not, get them.
Step 22) Open up DDS Converter 2 again, change the .bmp files back into .dds files and have the 'Output Folder' located to your renamed folder as it's destination.
Step 23) Now click convert and in your renamed folder, there are 2 sets of files, one .bmp and the other .dds.
Step 24) Delete all of the .bmp files out of your renamed folder. A finished folder would look like

Step 25) Now click start, run, type cmd, and type "mrs.exe c <folder name> - Let's say your renamed folder was named "Crazy_Castle", you would type "mrs.exe c Crazy_Castle" without the quotation marks.
Step 26) Now you should see a .mrs file appear in your <User>
Step 27) Place that .mrs file in your maps folder and open up LGGunZ

Step 28) Make a private room to check it out, your map should be in the map folder. Note: ONLY you and other people who have the map can play it. If you make a map and check it out in a room and brag to your friends and your friend says "lemme check it out too" and you guys go into a room and try to play your map, IT WON'T WORK. You will get an "Error, Cannot Create Game" message. As I said before, only the people with the file can play it. So if your friends want to play your map, get them to download it.4.---+++Adding Fog/Sky/Snow to Maps+++---

Step 1) Go into your map's folder, it should have already unpacked
Step 2) Find a file named <map>.rs as a xml document ex. if you were editting "Crazy_Castle", you would look for "Crazy_Castle.rs" - the xml document one, not the rs file one (without quotation marks)
Step 3) After you have found that file, right click and click open with
Step 4) Open it with either Notepad or wordpad and hit Ctrl+F
Step 5) search for the follow without quotation marks "</XML>"
Step 6) once it takes you there, get out of search and place this code BEFORE "</XML>" - so above it
Step 7) The follow code is:

^^ this is preset to a black sky, edit the numbers in green to set your color and the numbers in red to how much you want.

As for fog, it's mainly the same thing, put it before </XML> and get the color from the site.

As for snow, just add Snow to your map name, simple as that.
ex. you wanted to have Island and it snowing there, just name your name "Snow_Island"5.---+++Editting Clothes+++---

Now that you know how to edit maps, let's try the same thing with clothes. This is a bit different, since LGGunZ's man.mrs is protected so you will need a different program to access it. You need to download this mrs viewer to extract LGGunZ man.mrs
Step 1) Download the MRS File Viewer Advance , made by ThievingSix, uplaoded by me

Step 2) after you have downloaded it, find it, and double click on it and hit run
Step 3) Now the file should pop-up. On the very left side, you will see a button named "Open Mrs File" without the quotation marks. click it
Step 4) Now go into your LGGunZ Model folder and double click on man/woman . mrs
Step 5) Now in that white blank box, you should see many files appearing ranging from gz_hum_body001.tga.dds to body11 and so on
Step 6) 3 button to the right should say "Extract all files" without the quotation marks, click it and it should say files extracted when done
Step 7) Now go to where you downloaded yours mrs unpacker, and there should be your file sitting beside it ex. if you downloaded the mrs viewer advance to "My Pictures" , the man/woman folder should be right beside it in "My Pictures".
Step 8) Go into that folder and you should see yourself in the early stages of map-making.
Step 9) Convert to .bmp, edit, Convert to .dds, replace files, ONLY after you have made a back-up file of man/woman . mrs and placed it safely somewhere else.
Step 10) Now you're still in stages of map-making, get the map to your <User> and do that cmd > mrs.exe man/woman shit.
Step 11) Now you've got a .mrs file. Place it in your Model folder ONLY if you've made a back-up of man/woman .mrs and placed it safely somewhere else.
Step 12) Start up LGGunZ and go into store. If you've editted <name> pants, then go find those pants and buy them. ex. If you editted a battle brood set, go into the store and buy the battle brood set and equip it. Now you are wearing what you have editted. If you wanted to have the original copy of your armor, you can't because you have your editted one already there. The only way to get your original armor back is to have replaced your editted man/woman . mrs file with the original one that you DID NOT throw away.
Here is the break-down on who sees who:
There are 4 people in a game, John, Bob, Jessica, and Erin. John has editted his Battle Brood armor set to something really cool. Whenever John plays, he sees his character wearing the sweet outfit he made. Bob, Jessica and Erin however, see John as if he were wearing the normal Battle Brood armor. Bob, on the other hand, is also wearing a full Battle Brood set too. John sees that Bob has John's cool outfit on too. Bob sees himself wearing the default Battle Brood armor. I just wanted to clear this up because MANY people say "hey man you're wearing my cool armor on, can u see it on ur dude??" while I say "No i can't because I don't have your file" I stress this too many times.6.---+++Editting Weapons+++---

Download the above mrs viewer advance in above topic. Now open up model.mrs in your GunZ Online folder in your LegacyGamers folder. Make a backup of it and on the mrs viewer, extract all files. Convert any files and edit them and convert them back. Easy-Shmeasy since you've learned the previous editting. I will not say it is easy, I will actually say its hard, the only weapons I could recognize are the large swords. The rest of the weapons I can't tell if its a SMG, a rifle, or a MG.
7.---+++Editting Misc+++---

Attention to all artists out there on the LGGunZ forum: You have talent and potential, DO NOT LET ANYONE LET YOU DOWN! Besides maps and clothes, there are other things you can edit, such as loading screens, crosshairs, monsters, bgm, ETC. Just get that mrs viewer and be curious and extract any .mrs you see in your LGGunZ's folder. There are MANY MANY things you can edit besides maps/armor. Sfx.mrs includes: smoke, explosion, elements, massives, etc. A few files from sfx.mrs you can edit are: gd_effect_012 is level-up wings, gd_effect_019 is the element for poison, just experiment and put yellow smilie faces over the red "x's" and you'll have smilie faces as your element.

Just a few things I wanted to clear up:
- I am NOT responsible for ANYBODY if they overwrite their file without making a backup copy of it. I have stressed to make a backup of your original file too many times.
- Screenshots. Take lots of them
- The ONLY site allowed to have this guide is legacygamers.net , If I find this on any other site, someone will be getting a titanium bat to the kneecap and/or I won't release anything more.
- If you want any of my files/maps/anything, just ask, I will 99% say yes, but please, still ask
- If there is ANY misunderstanding in my guide, please feel free to tell me and I will fix it and provide a better detailed explanation with a picture tut with it.
