Fly Over Collapses: iNs@nE Still Lives
A flyover here is under-construction and it was supposed to be terror-attack resistant and bomb-explosion resistant but sadly that damn thing couldnt take on a 8cm rainfall yesterday.
I was under the flyover when the bridge collapses right in about 5-6 feet in front of me. I reversed the car like a maniac ramming into the cars behind me and pushing them back with me. One of the stone slabs fell onto the front of my car crushing the bumper and the head lights but iNs@nE got out safe and sound with no scratches at all.
But the sad news is - the cars in front of me didnt get the chance to see the flyover collapse and 6 cars and 3 taxis got crushed under the stone slabs killing 25 people and injuring over 30 (especially those who were taking shelter under the flyover from the rain) ..
It all happened right in front of my eyes and strangely I was not in any shock. We at the back immediately ran and helped out those who were trapped underneath and I took 2 people to a nearby hospital both of whom are still in a critical condition. Hope they live.
They say it happened because of bad construction and now charges are being held against the contractors.
Oh yeah - Am still here and rockin like eva.. :icon6:
P.S: My car is on the other side of the pics. A Black Honda Civic ... :( ..It saved me life. 2.1 Dura Torq FTW!

wow ins@ne that's crazy. I think its most amazing that you had enough wits about you to be able to reverse your car and get away from it, pushing other cars back maybe saving them too.
I'm not sure totally what a flyover is, but the photos clearly show major destruction. Glad you made it out :)

Knowing me, I probly would've died. I either would have been too drunk or too tired to have moved out of the way. It's a good thing you weren't neither drunk or tired dude. Glad you're ok.

Tragic accident, i hope whoever is accountable gets fired. Most likely itll be the low guys who get the boot though and the city officals who oked it will get away scot free :/
Just wondering, who has to pay for your car getting crushed? I presume the city builders etc, but id guess that is a slow process of courts and stuff. 0o Should of given yourself some bruises to get a bigger settlement :p

Well, I got insurance. So most of that will be covered by that. So nothing much to worry about the card. And getting some bruises on me wouldnt really count much compared to the 25 people who died and the other 30 who are still critical eh..?
The Government is giving around $10,000 for the dead. This is India mate. This is how things happen out here. And as soon as the incident happened, all the opposition party members popped in and started blaming the standing government blaming them for the incident and bringing down of the government .. Somethings will never change.

Thats fucking disgusting, I swear some some contract workers think they can get away with doing half assed jobs all the time, and only regretting it when its to late and people die or get injured under there poor construction.
Sorry you had to go through all that man, its deffinatly and experience you won't forget for the rest of your life. Glad to know you made it out in one piece.

Actually it was pretty spontaneous ... People were rushing to help them and I kinda ran along with the flow .. Really didnt think much ... :|

Well they do. But the checks are never done they way they are supposed to be. You know corruption eats its way around and each and everyone is lazy around to actually go and do some work. This is the result of it all.

It was being undertaken by this company called Gammon India.
They are currently shut down as the case is going on. Very few chances that they will retain the contract. Greater chances that the contractor might go to jail for bad work on the fly over causing so many lives.

how can they start building smthn that will be used by millions of ppl when it collapses after some rain?

They are being sued now ..The flyover is being demolished.
