What Mu Data Workshop is:

This program provides a Graphical User Interface (GUI) frontend to editing item bag and shop files. It provides a searchable database of items, so you do not need to know what the item codes are. This database can be easily updated by replacing it with a new version from the server files. It also generates vault codes and shop codes for you.

Also this program can generate SQL hexidecimal codes for items to be stored directly into the mu database. Many thanks to Rhamd for providing information about the structure of the SQL HEX codes (http://forum.ragezone.com/showthread.php?threadid=18830).

Tasman, you bring up a good point...

A couple of days ago, I looked at the language folder on my server and thought of that too. It might be useful to have a graphical tool for editing skills, maps, and monster sets. For me I edit shop files and warehouse frequently, as I do some internal server testing. As this program alone required a lot of work already, extending support to other features of the server is unlikely at this point.

Updates on the program:
Title: Mu Item Bag/Shop Editor

1) Only opens shop and event item bag files (file names must include have "shop" or "bag")
There is no easy way to FULLY detect if a file is valid for reading, so I just implemented this simple check. You can easily fool it, but just don't.

2) The "Tab-delimited Output" is now eliminated. It was used for formatting eventitembag8.txt - eventitembag12.txt. Now, the program will automatically check if the item bag file contains any excellent items, than output it in tab-delimited format, so the server won't crash when reading the file.

3) Blank lines and comments are now supported. They are also preserved during file open.

4) Recently added support for "sub-type" items (Box of Kundun, Transformation Rings, Orbs,etc)

5) There are some properties that I will not check. For example, if you make a satan+skill, that's your choice. It's too much work for me to check it, and the game engine will check it anyway. I leave this possibility to you, as there might be "uses" for it.

Future udpates:

1) Filter for excellent options

Request to the ragezone community:
Wing options (both normal and excellent) seem to be a mystery to me and some of you. If anyone can post information about this, it would be great. This will be useful in future extension to support editing the warehouse.

Easy life = more time

Hi,

I testet the new version, and i have a question.

When i open your shoptest.txt, on click an item, i cannot change the level of this item just selecting from ITEM LEVEL LIST MENU.

But, when i add a new item, i can change the level after when i wish.

I saved the file and reloaded the shoptest, and this still. Only on MY NEW ADDED items, i can change they levels.. the old ones, the program not permit.

is it normal?

Other question!!! The "Olive of Love" not have a proper CODE. We must add to shops the code from ALCOHOL +1 to olive works. How to resolve this problem??? I think that is not possible because the unique indexes from itens that game interpreter... right?

You cannot change an item in the list UNTIL YOU SELECT IT, even though it is highlighted by default after you load it. HIGHLIGHT does not mean SELECTED. I will try to improve this.

This is not hard. At the time of this program development, I myself did not know the code for several "sub-type" items like the Olive. You can see that I have included the ones we all know, based on the wonderful information provided by the community (like Box of kunduns, Summon Orbs, I had to do research on the event bags [medals, heart of love]). I will update the sub-types to include Olive and Remedy - please share more info as it becomes available.

*** As for monster/monsterset editing, I'm really hoping that someone else will start another project. I have the basic File IO functions to read the files, which I will share in code format to help out. If you have Visual Basic studio, is fluent in VB, and would like to use my code, pm me.

With this sub-type data file, you will be able to update your own sub-types (like Medals, Olives, etc) whenever they are discovered. If u accept, i suggest that u re-arrange the items sections, is a bit confuse.

ex:

Armor: OK
Weapons: Bows / Crossbows / Axes / Swords / Staffs / Spears / Maces

Misc: Orbs + Scrolls / Jewellery(Rings, Pedants & Jewels & Zen) / Boxes + Guardians + other cool stuffs(blue feather, fruits, etc...) / Quest items (Devil eye, blood scrolls, lost sword, invitation, etc...) / Potions / Wings

In my current release, 0.9.7b, I have fixed the problems you pointed out. However, I can't do much with the Class re-organization yet, because of the way Mu's data is structured. I will make this user-customizable in the future.

You can edit your own subtypes now, when they become available. Look for this in "data\subtypes.txt". I have included some known subtypes that I am familiar with.

Please refer to the included readme for upcoming features and fixes.

If you have a more complete subtype file than the one i have included in my program, please post it here. Thanks.

I've just ran into a bug when you open some shop files. If an item in the shop file doesn't exist in the program's data file or subtypes, the program will crash. I already have this patched in 0.9.7c, and will post it tomorrow, when I also finish up the search feature. The search feature is 98% complete.

Well, it didn't take long to finish up the search feature. Here you have it, the latest and most stable version! It will be a long while before I update it again, unless there are bugs that need fixing.

u can think about making a patch which will make program work with monstersetbase & monster txts it would be more handy that item thing, o btw u should make copy>paste in that prog, great idea with that search engine is there a way to auto add made items to vault?

IF your subtype or data file doesn't define an item (like Olive of Love), but your shop (or bag) file has the item, now the program will force write-protect by default on the item's original name, and just give u a message that the item doesn't exist in its DB. If you want avoid seeing this message, add the item to "item(Kor).txt" if it isn't a subtype, and to "subtypes.txt" if it is. Subtypes are items with the same class and type index as another item, but have a different LEVEL value.

When you load an item that does not exist in the program db, you can still edit the item normally as before. Thanks Alexiel.

But i added new lines on my item bags coz the new itens that drop... and works fine 100%!!!! ALL itens DROP!!! This is just a comment....

hmm, havent tried adding more than what's in the item bags but i guess it is entirely possible to add lines without crashing the server, after all, there's no point for the game developers to limit the number of items to specific amounts and different ones at that for the different item bags.

yeah, but as far as i know, some event item bags are pointing to several boxes... and i know that the only difference they use is a line delimeter 8-\ (number of line to start off....) ;) so i wasnt sure about that ;-|

My experiences with adding items to these bags is same as incOginito. I've added tens of new items to each of the kundun box files, and haven't crashed. Same with some of the other item bags.

Anyway, updated program to 0.9.7e. Has some graphical enhancements to look better. Download from first post.

Now supports ability to exclude certain items from your search results. For example, by searching for "box -kundun" in pattern mode, you will not get results with Boxes of Kundun. Also includes minor updates and fixes. Check first post for download.

well that shop editor aint working for me, it keeps saying error reading a required data file. program will terminate. error 76: path not found. make sure data file exists and have proper format.

To answer your question, I use WinXP Pro. But have you read the readme file and tried the DLL I included? I just need to know if the DLL will solve everyone's problems with runtime errors or not.

I don't think what you have is a bug with my program. I have put Great Dragon Armor and Dark Master Armor into shop1.txt, reloaded Game Server, logged into game, and the shop shows Great Dragon Armor and Dark Master Armor.

Try getting a newer client, one that is v99b compatible. I recommend downloading the Mobius/Phillipine version, and then patch it with the v99b Chinese patch. Look for download links for these files in the "Server Help" or "Development" threads. DO NOT ASK FOR THEM HERE!

your newversion very odd becuase i used it to redo drops and shops and it messes the codding up and only get gold in boxes and in shops shows error on gs , when i go into game it shows a buch of +11 to +15 and lol not what i put in the text.

New version released - version 0.9.8. Now all item information is stored inside a MS-Access file, for easier editing. Various other minor bug fixes are also in place.

Also, only the applicable excellent options are displayed for a certain item.

it is a usefull prog.. but i got some kind of bugs.. when i make a +15+28 item and i place it in a empty vault.. after when i log in except of the item i placed 20 other items appear and when i try to drag them out of the vault i get DC=// :eh:

I was hoping that this program can help you customize your own files easily. If you expect others to do this for you, I don't have time. As for getting the "items of DexMu" -- I will have nothing to do with that. You may politely email the DexMu administrator(s) to send you their files, and hope that they are willing to share. It would be better if you use your own creativity and make your own boxes, wouldn't it?

Over the summer of '05, I am planning on adding a GUI for the shop window, so that the admin can (hopefully) position items in the shop precisely as the admin wants it. Lastly, I have also been working on a side project that provides a graphical representation of the inventory and warehouse, where the user can actually drag and drop the nxm shapes (representing items) to rearrange their inventory or warehouse. Current features also include ability to modify character and account information. See screenshots below. Due out in summer, too, hopefully.

Once again, thanks for contacting me about your server-creation pack. That would be a great server utility!

yep no worries ;) It'll be no use to me (I'm no programmer) but I have a freind who is using all the research I'm doing (file data, info about values/structure/syntax, hex offsets, etc) to make one big editor for all settings+files in MuServer, and this would be a great addition :)

hmmmm this would work to some degree, but you coudln't REALLY place them arbitrarily unless you had some kind of 'spacer' item..

I wasnt sure if It was here i should post a problem im having with Mu Item bag and shop editor, but here i go :)

My main problem is i cant make exc Dark Side Set. I get like empty weird spaces, Bless +11, Soul+11 and a weird thing called "zen" (Identify at npc). The other sets works awesome, I have no idea why this 1 wont work :(

I have a problem with Boxes. I edit them but i keep getting GS errors even tho im doing it right.
