Chinese MMORPG bans males who play as females

Obviously not as sensitive to the needs of transgendered gamers as we in the west, it would seem that Chinese game companies take a dim view of males who want to be females -- in computer games, at least. Chinese MMORPG King of the World won't accept male players masquerading as female characters and is putting a stop to such shenanigans.

Haha I was thinking the same, I do think this is for the best though. As some weirdo's pretend to be female just to scam others etc. So all in all I agree with this new "rule".

Well it bothers me a bit when guys pretend to be girls, because well I shouldn't have to *prove* that I'm a girl. But since so many guys think its funny to pretend to be girls for whatever reason (either they really try to be girls, or they just like girl characters better and other people assume they are girls) then real girls have to prove themselves.

Well whatever, its an odd concept, The real girls will be harassed more for sure.

plus its a company so.. they aren't going to want to do a lot of work.

So really how do they prove it? by the name on the credit card you sign up with? So you just get your sis to make you an account..

I just prefer to look at the image of a girls ass than a guy. In fact I would much rather look at a female than a guy for an extended period of time.
On that note, a study was taken and it showed that the majority of females who played online mmos were either very brutish kinda barbaric guys or were very feminine tall slender and the modern stereotype of an attractive women. I heard about that from NPR (second hand...).

That's my stance on this lol, many games are played from the rear view of the character so I've come to think that I would rather look at the arse of a female than a male. Turned that one around lol

And the common held notion that guys start females for the support they receive from unsuspecting guys doesn't apply to me, but I suppose if I was offered something great then yah I might play along.

Actually believe it or not the girl population on OFFICIAL mmorpg servers has increased dramatically in the past 5 years. It went from about 10% female and 90% male to about 35% female and 65% male. I had a clan in Lineage 2 official bartz server and about 40% of my clan, which had about 20 members, were female. 8 and 12 are not all that far apart. However in private servers, I think it went from 10%/90% to 12%/88%.

Well damn, there goes my 50 accounts on my Chinese MMORPG's.

Playing a female character is a lot different (imo) than pretending to be one.

Do you "date" or "marry" other guys with them not knowing you are a guy?
(and yes its role play so its role play to do these things in some games)
That's the kind of thing that bothers me... masquerading as a female. Anyway...
Besides who can blame you, the guys walk funny. (cause I play guys sometimes, and I can't stand it for long.)

tbh, communism is still a good idea, its human nature that ruins the whole idea, if all people were good and not greedy/mad for power, ect. it would be the best idea for govt. but thats our downfall, we are greedy/mad for power :P

back on topic: i think this is lol :P they could always find out if your a guy by what you put when you register, male or female.
