Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is a music video game and the third full installment in the Guitar Hero series (the fourth title overall). The game is published by Activision and RedOctane, with Neversoft as the developer for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii consoles, and Aspyr Media as the developer for the PC and Macintosh computers. Due to the acquisition of RedOctane by Activision, Harmonix Music Systems is no longer involved in developing titles in the Guitar Hero series (instead, the company is currently developing the competing game Rock Band).

As with the previous Guitar Hero games, the player uses a guitar-shaped controller to simulate the playing of rock music by playing notes as they scroll in-time with the music. Guitar Hero III is available both individually and in bundles packaged with wireless controllers. Previous Guitar Hero controllers are compatible with this title. Guitar Hero III is the first game in the series to feature online play, in addition to existing game modes.

Furthermore, the game includes Slash (of Guns N' Roses/Velvet Revolver), Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave), and Bret Michaels (Poison) as in-game characters.

Is anyone as excited as me to get it? I preorderd it and bought it right there, all I gotta do is pick it up, I have the demo and it's Awsome, graphics are great, easier to hammer on now, Great songs on there

I'm excited for it! I have 2 and it rules hardcore! I can't wait. The 80's hits release was really gay though, hopefully 3 is better.

I'm debating what to get it for, I have an Xbox360 and a Wii.. a PS2 too, but I don't think they will put it out for PS2. Probably PS3.

Played the demo while at work. It's awesome. The new guitar is bigger and a bit heavier which makes it a bit more comfortable, for me anyways. Also you can remove the neck to store in small spaces if you're on the go a lot. You can also remove the faceplate of the guitar's soundboard which is pretty cool because they will probably have different types of faceplates available for purchase once the game is officially released.

I want it sooo bad. I'd get it with the guitar too, but i'm borderline broke so f that. Still can't wait for just the game itself tho. Now to beat GH2 on hard.... freakin "Woman"

faceplate is gonna pwn and im taking my old acustic guitar and make it into a gh guitar for wii only if i can find it in basement

im not the greatest either at the game but im hooked on it. me and a friend traded my wii for his ps2 so i could play gh2

Lol you guys ee that you tube vid with the guy doing expert with him doing all kinds of neet tricks. 1 handed, guitart behind his head... all kinds of things, my friends are over right now here with my bro playing #2 right now, i would like to see #3.

I'm wondering if it will be good or not. GH1 and 2 where great games but I wonder with GH3. Why? Because Harmonix isn't making it this time around and another company is trying to continue their work. So I'll have to wait and see.

Though Rock Band, what Harmonix is doing instead, is probably going to kick some urber ass! I'll probably end up with both but we'll see if they are good enough.

And the new GH3 guitar fails in comparison to the one in Rock Band. Now that one looks kick ass and is said to play vastly better then the other ones according to someone I know that works at Harmonix.

Agreed. Rock band is also sponsored by Fender whereas GH has been always been sponsored by Gibson. Which is very weird considering most Gibson guitars don't come with a standard whammy bar...go figure. But, Rock Band's Fender Stratocaster model has me all lubed up and ready to uh...play guitar. *cough*

rock band looks dum too me, I mean it takes like mad space and you need like 3 or 4 people to play it. I think guitar III will do better

ok im setting this here and now RB will pwn but for the consoles its not coming out for will be lacking a good game and guitar hero 3(III) will pick up the ball. if you like both get both just stop saying that it will be better cause that is like comparing DDR to pac-man both games are great and let celebrate in the glory of GH3 for now and RB when its coming out.

They both seem like creditable Music games that look very very fun. I'm not sure where GH3 is going either, but seeing as GH1 and GH2 were really good, even if they are switching producers, it still seems it will outdo Rock Band since it has been out longer.

Although we can never be sure, I'm sure I'll love playing them both if I do decide to get Rock Band. And I'm not sure where GH3 stands currently, I haven't played the demo yet sadly.

Lol, I guess I'm not the only one :) I reckon it's going to be kick ass!

My brother played the demo at his work. He said it's very awesome. Graphics improved + people motions don't look so awkward anymore.

That song is actually easier than it seems to play on guitar. All you need is a killswitch. But, I've never actually seen him do the GH solos at a live show. He usually mixes Jordan and Post Office Buddy.

But, you are right. He is a mean soloist. Night Of The Slunk is my favorite Buckethead song.

Im so getting GH3 but i saw the track list for rock band in GI and i wasent impressed although i will prolly get it for shits and giggles
