Re: Crysis Single Player Demo
This game really runs great on my quadcore and x1950pro! I'm playing at high on all except for shadows, shaders and postprocessing effects to get the best fps.

Re: Crysis Single Player Demo
I'm mixed about this game. It isn't what I was expecting. Well not as good as I was expecting but still good.
The game play is lacking but damn the graphics are even more amazing then what I was expecting. And not to mention it runs better then I was expecting.
The optimal setting for my system is "Very High" on everything with 4xAA. Which is actually surprising since this the first game I've seen that says everything is Very High. Not just that but it actually does run flawless at these settings. No slow downs at all and it's just very smooth playing.
Still I even tried it on low settings and it is still very impressive. Looks damn good at that setting.
Though the biggest let down is the 64-bit support. Both the demo and the level editor doesn't work in 64-bit for some strange reason which is annoying. Hopefully that will be fixed by the release date.

Re: [PC] Crysis Single Player Demo
well, i tried the demo and my first word was wow after 2 min i got bored i think its just a normal game with some extras like the nano suit. The graphic is amazing.I think the sandbox editor makes more fun than the game :D

Re: [PC] Crysis Single Player Demo
Don't forget theres some ini files you can modify to unlock Very High settings on XP, also it seems like the demo isn't multithreaded so you'll have to wait for the retail release to see the real performance of Crysis.

It's .cfg files. :1:

Re: [PC] Crysis Single Player Demo
.cfg/.ini same thing XD You edit both with notepad, also another things, the demo has lots of the retail content in there if you mess around with the map editor, and hidden in the files there's the entire storyline script, big slipup eh?

Not really. They do that for a reason. They want people to fiddle with the stuff so if they include some "easter eggs" it will encourage people do to just that. :1:
And a .cfg and .ini files are slightly different. One holds configurations for a program to load at a point in time while the other holds initialization information that is loaded at start up. ;)

Re: [PC] Crysis Single Player Demo
Can't wait for the full game!

Re: [PC] Crysis Single Player Demo
Nah, gameplay is shit. Graphics are awesome! But I think CoD4 is a better choice, gameplay is the most important thing ;).
-
Re: [PC] Crysis Single Player Demo
Crysis gameplay owns balls.
I'm only getting cod4 cause of the multiplayer =)
-
Re: [PC] Crysis Single Player Demo
Looks interesting, I might try it out later. Until then I'll just keep reading the comments on it.

RAM doesn't effect performance much. Just load times. CPU and GPU will effect game performance.

I doubt you can play it at high settings at any reasonable performance. And 15fps isn't reasonable. My 8800GTX @ Ultra speed runs the game at 40fps in those setting at 12x10 resolution and 20-25fps at very high settings.
Your weak ass GPU wont do high settings at anything over 10-15 fps if you are lucky.
Try going into the console (~) and typing in "r_displayinfo 1" that will tell you the fps of the game.
And you do know that the performance on AMD cards is worse then that of nVidia cards in this game.

the only thing wich i cant use at all is aa and thats only because the 256 ram on it just isent enough
and if the preformance on amd cards is worse then that of nvidia then y am i able to get better fps then a 8800 gts ....
and here taken from this thread aswel another guy with a pritty weak card able to play it on all high setting
something most 8800 gts users have troubles with

Hmm, looks like you didn't read my post, I have an ATI card, not a nvidia card. I also tried the tweaks, my graphics card didn't like them hehe.
Edit: Did you quote me by mistake?

Only 256mb of RAM? You do know that it wont be possible to run at that resolution with high settings and get 20-25 FPS with just 256mb of RAM.
There just isn't enough memory to store the textures that are required to do that.
And you do know that in XP the GTS gets about 40 FPS at that setting...

Umm.... I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit with the 169.01 drivers and it runs just fine. The 64-bit version of the game doesn't work but the 32-bit does. And that's not down to the graphics drivers but a software problem with the demo that needs to be patched.

Yet again there is something wrong there. Either your drivers are setup to have the lowest possible level of detail or you are simply not running those settings and/or resolution.

I wouldn't bother getting that card. It's going to perform lower then the 8800GT. Hence why they changed the price from $250 to $200 to compete with the GT.
The GT is just simply an amazing card. No matter how you look at it.

I used to have dual x1900's. Sold them for a PS3 and went back to nVidia. Why nVidia? Because the support for games with ATI is crap compared to nVidia. Gave me to many problems. So that's why I went back to nVidia. And not to mention a single GTX is faster then dual x1900 XTXs.
Now if you are honestly running at those settings and getting those results consider yourself damn lucky. Because even the 2900Pro can't get those results. And that's a faster card then what you have.
Fact of the matter. At the moment the 8800's are the best cards around. Well the GT and the GTX as the GTS and Ultras are jokes.

Another Crysis demo surprise
Quote:
Weapons and vehicles available
Crytek's Crysis demo just won't stay under our radar. After the DX10 on DX9 script issue was discovered, a number of people started to scrutinize the script files. Now, we have yet another surprise to report about.
The new surprise comes in the form of guns, including nearly everything that you will be able to view in the full game. Next in line are vehicles, tanks, boats and helicopters. All you have to do is to download the "demofunmap #5" from here, and then extract the level.pak to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Game\Levels\island, or whereever you installed the demo. Just be sure to back up the original level.pak so you don't have to reinstall the demo.
It seems that Crytek has underestimated gamers' curiosity and desire to look at the script files and editor. And stay off the center of the map, since it triggers the final cut scene and ends the demo. Have fun flying.....

Re: [PC] Crysis Single Player Demo
Alright, breakthrough guys. I just found out that if you use the map editor and skip to the bit after the last cutscene theres about 30 seconds of extra gameplay, showing off the alien a bit more, but if you skip down to the bottom bit after your screen fades out a second time you'll find out something interesting about Jester.

Re: [PC] Crysis Single Player Demo
I Tried the editor, dropped a Tac Gun for myself and one point.
Cleared a whole beach section with it, small powerful weapon i must say.
