I'm telling you right now, that if you havn't played Guitar Hero before your NOT going to win lol.
Every single person I see play for their first time struggle to complete a song on easy, let alone medium, Then theres Hard & Expert which are a BIG step up.
But for the most points complete Freebird on expert (I can't pass it and I've been playing for quiet a while and I'm not crap)

Hey, i forgot to say that i am very good on guitar hero 2, i can complete hard songs xD
And Free bird is on guitar hero 2, on the bonus songs :S
My brother can beat all songs on expert and almost beat Jordan in Guitar Hero II.
If you can't, you won't win the tournament at all.
