[360] Oblivion - Help Me Please! [360]

Hi.

I've been playing Oblivion for the 360 for some months now.

I have just started to get into the Daedric Shrine series of quests, and I am doing Clavicus Vile's quest to retrieve the Umbra sword.

I have retrieved the sword and returned it to Clavicus Vile. The sword has been removed from my inventory.

Stupidly, I saved my game after the sword was removed. I am using an unpatched version of the game because I don't have XBOX Live.

There is a bug in unpatched versions. After the sword is removed from my inventory, Clavicus Vile's pet dog begins to speak to me. As soon as he starts his speech, the game freezes up.

Every time I load my game, I have about two seconds before it freezes.

Apparently this can be fixed with a patch, but I can't download that without XBOX Live. I have heard that there is a way to bypass the bug and continue playing, but I don't know what that is.

If someone could help me fix the bug, I would be very grateful.

Go To Your 360 Dashboard, And Clear Your Memory[And Yes, It DOES Mean you have to start over], And It Should Unfreeze. My 360 Is Messed up From GHF, And I Don't Remember Much Though.I Don't Have Live Either, So If It Doesn't Work For You, Then I Can't Help :P
[Btw, I'm No Super Game freak, So Idk How To Clear the Memory, My friend did it for me.]
OffTopic: Did You get This Mission At A Shrine, Or Did Someone Tell you to Retrieve The Sword from The Shrine, I Was Doing The Shrine Quests, Because I Didn't Have Anything To Do, I've Already Killed the Really Fat Guy And Martin Turned To Akatosh And Blah,Blah,Blah. But i Don't want my game to freeze After I get It Fixed, Because That Would Suck.

Starting over it is then. Oh well, when I was playing Morrowind I had almost 50 different characters before I found one I was happy with.

You get the mission at a shrine southwest of the Imperial City, at the end of the road up from Skingrad. You give Clavicus Vile 500 gold and he sets you on the quest.

I've finished the game before, twice. Once with a mage character and once with a fighter, but I wasn't happy with the gameplay style the characters fit into, so I started again. It won't be a big deal for me to start over yet again.

Why wouldn't you have Xbox Live, it's free.

Can't you just take your 360 to your comp real quick, plug in the ethernet cable to your modem/router and just download the update then go back to playing normally? Its free to do as Gohan said.

Is That The One That You Get The Sword, Then take IT Back, And They give You An Option To Take The Sword OR Something Else(I'm Having a blank Atm >_<) And If you Choose The Sword, You freeze Up?

Yeah, you can either give Clavicus Vile the sword or keep it for yourself. The problem arises when the statuette of Clavicus Vile's pet dog starts to speak to you. That happens whether you return the sword or not.

Xbox Live Silver is free, for Gold you have to pay, but anyone can have Silver, which will get you the updates.

But To Have Xbox Live At All, You have To Enter Your Credit Card And everything Anyways, Dont ask me why, I Haven't a clue.

You obviously don't, as i don't even own a credit card or anything like that. Going on Xbox Live Silver only requires a connection to the internet.

Also for Xbox Live Gold you don't need a credit card either, Xbox Live Gold can be purchased in stores, you get a box with a code in it, you fill it in with no extra crap, and you will have the amount of time on Xbox Live Gold as you purchased, at the end it will end and no crap will be needed, you can just get a new card or just decide to use Silver.

yea silver is free just plug in and go O_p and let the game update :P

Best way to get umbra (if you plan on keeping the sword) is to kill her before getting the quest, then you get the sword as a quest item so it weighs 0 ;) it can't be dropped but you shouldnt need too. This also stops the bug I believe, if you have the sword when you speak to him he does not give you the dog which is what causes the crash.
