[PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Info from Wikipedia:
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare introduces a variety of game play styles into the single player campaign completely new to the Call of Duty series. The game moves away from the standard three country-specific campaign style, and allows the plot to play through more like a film style plot with interlaced story lines from the perspective of the player as Paul Jackson, a member of the United States Marine Corps 1st Force Recon and Soap MacTavish, a member of the British 22nd SAS Regiment. There is also a variety of cameo-style missions where you play as various other soldiers such as an AC-130 Spectre Gunship gunner, or as one part of a two man sniper team behind enemy lines in a flashback style mission. Even a mission in the Middle East as part of the USMC 1st Force Recon to rescue a bogged down tank.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare focuses on the variation of modern warfare as an infantry soldier by allowing the player to control soldiers in a vast number of different scenarios, straying away from the constant "at eleven" action of previous Call of Duty titles and allowing for both heavy intensity fire fights and slower paced drama styled intensity. The series' move to modern warfare has also introduced a variety of new modern weapons and technology to be introduced to the Call of Duty franchise. Such showcased weapons and attachments include M203 grenade launchers, and the AN/PEQ-2 Targer Pointer for use in conjunction with night vision goggles, silenced MP5SD submachine guns, and the FGM-148 Javelin portable anti-tank guided missile among many others. This is also the first Call of Duty game to be rated "M" by the ESRB.
There is also a Nintendo DS version, but due to the DS version being very different it will not be discussed here.
The game came out a few days ago in America and it will be released everywhere by tomorrow.
For me this is 1 of the most wanted games ever, i played the beta because it was free and figured i would check it out, i played for 4 hours straight, first time i did that with a shooter on the 360.
What i read is that the single player is pretty short (like 5 hours), but that it's really good. In the end this game is about the multiplayer, and imo it's 1 of the best ever.
All reviews on COD4 for all 3 systems have been extremely positive, and there is no version better then the other, so it all depends on which system you own and all that.

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
This game is amazing. Our clan already has a server setup (called Goldmember), 25 players constantly :D. I'm buying it tomorrow, maybe we can exchange usernames (is there, like in BF, a ingame friend system?). I'll be making maps, mods and tools etc etc :). I definitely look forward to it.
But! Beware of addictment :P, ranks and gun upgrade systems always make games very addictive :P, my mother won't be pleased, lol.
Kinda a pitty that there are not vehicles, although that will require big maps and will ruin infantry gameplay (big explosives required to destroy tanks etc).
We'll meet again, Mr. GohanSSJ :P

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I'm getting the game for the 360, my PC can definetly handle it, but on the 360 it will look better, besides most of the people i game with are on the 360, and for the 360 i got a nice big 32 inch 720p TV

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Ah I see :), why does it look better on the 360? Better hardware? (and screen as you said)
If you connect with a 360 you can only play with other 360 users? Not with PC users?
I wonder how to map for a 360 ... must figure out :P
-
Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
It looks better because my PC is getting old, obviously on a high end PC it will look better.
You can indeed only play with other 360 players, and you can't map on the 360, atleast not as far as i know.

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
The magic thing about CoD4 is that, if your computer can handle cod2 then its just about able to play CoD4 smoothly without any hiccups.

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Yeah i seen Call of Duty 4 on Flameingskull's laptop at the RaGEPARTY, and it ran and looked really well for on a laptop.

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I was waiting for Christmas to get this game, then i saw all these videos of it and i was like "ARGH! These videos are raping my mind!" so i had no choice but to buy it because i couldn't wait 3 months.
But hopefully for christmas, ill have it installed and with a waiting list for Crysis and Farcry 2 with a touch of World of Warcraft's New Expansion. I think those are going to be the only games on my computer.
*Reminder. This thread is about CoD4, not crysis or farcry2 or wow lol, so don't be going posting stuff about that now. (Esp. in this thread.) Theirs a good boy.
-Edit:
GohanSSJ, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is available on Nintendo DS to.

Most handheld versions of games offer a different expierence from the console/pc version. For example i just posted a topic for Oblivion, and even though there will be a Oblivion on the PSP, it just can't be seen as the same game.

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
It may seem different but its not in gameplay. You can just about do the same thing, handheld fights with an enemy on your screen, aim down sites and stuff and kill people =P That about sums it up for cod in normal sense of text anyway, but i still think DS should be put in title. (*Hint hint.*)

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
It's not in gameplay? I could believe that with the powerful PSP with UMD's that hold upto 1.8 gig, but not a weak DS with 2 screens and cartridges going upto like 128mb and all. The DS version is different, it doesn't even have the same developer.
Only versions of games that are nearly identical will share the same topic, the DS version isn't even close to being identical.

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I just read that modded servers are not ranked, sadly that will mean very few mods to come out.
I even read that when you join a modded server, you loose your stats :S.
And, you stats are saved on your computer, encrypted ofcourse, but it will mean stat hackers when they find out how to decrypt (I guess someone already found out). So its not all positive, already waiting for the upgrade lol.

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
No no. Just think of it yeah, you play a modded server that contains BOTS and all these bots will do is stand still yeah? All you need to do is shoot through walls and lucky bullet flings and all that sort and what? Get level 99 already?! Thats kinda dumb don't ya think?
Modded servers should keep their own database of GUIDS reaching what rank, while other servers loaded and connect to activisons should stay the same.

Alright, but loosing all your stats you made on ranked server is a bit ridiculous isnt it?
And they dont connect to activision server, if you read my post you knew its kept on the client machine ^^, :P ;)

The game is awesome. The bad thing is, you can't do splitscreen on XBL.

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Have it for PC, rank 55 already :). Single player is kind of short, but great story. Multiplayer is the best ive seen in a fps so far.

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
I'm playing it on the x360 at the moment. Very very nice game. Better then I though it would be.
And want to know the reason why I got the x360 version over the other two systems? Simply the x360 has Achievement points which gives me things to do and the biggest thing is that the multiplayer. Most of the people I play games with has gotten it on the x360 and not the PC and most of them don't want a PS3. Which is just a shame.
The x360 is bringing the death to the PC gaming world. Why spend thousands on a computer when you can spend only a few hundred on a console and have nearly as good of an experience? O.O

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
That was my argument when i got my 360, my brother bought a high end PC at that time, and my 360 is better, and since my PC is good enough for most games that i do want to play on the PC (like Counter-Strike: Source) i really saw no point in upgrading my PC (except for a extra 512mb and a larger HDD)
Anyway the game is just amazing, i played for about 8 hours online (that's actual play time) and i'm rank 28 now.

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Best game for 360 so far. Fucking amazing. I can't stop playing it. I try to walk away and play Hellgate London...but I can't stay away for more than an hour. I think my total game time is around 1 day and 15 hours maybe? I'm already 22 in Prestiege Mode.

Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
That's when you maxed out and you "start over" right?
-
Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

-
Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

-
Re: [PC/360/PS3] Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Nearly...But still a valid point. It's not much to pay for what you get out of it.
