Hello,
I would like to know what repack to install on my PC and how ?
I have configured the latest Ascent(2458) And NCDB(677) which work fine. However I would like to use ready custom vendors and teleports rather than making ones myself. So any suggestion are welcomed since I haven't done this before and most of Ackhole's files give me some error when I try to "Restore Files From Dump..." with SQLyog.
What i did to get teleports / custom vendors (without loosing account / chracter info) :
Assuming you already have a server up and runing

- Downloaded Mafiaboy's 2.3.x Repack and extract it to location of your choice
- Shutdown your server
- Drop current world database (SQLyog)
- Create a new and empty world database
- Right click on world database and click "Restore from SQL dump"
- Browse to the location where you extracted Mafiaboy's Repack
- Find the folder named "DATABASES" and choose the file called "ascent9.sql"
- Click "Execute" (Takes about 15 mins on my computer for this step to complete)
When finished, restart your server and you should now have teleports / custom vendors.
No not a server. It is only for personal use on the PC. And something happened today I cannot start my SQL service which disappeared upon shutting down the PC. So may be I should reinstall MySQL Server 5.1.
Yes I downloaded mafiaboy's and was wondering what that file "ascent9.sql" is about. So from this repack I need only it in order to get it running ? I can still keep my latest ascent and NCDB and the only thing I need to do is change the name in my files from "world" to "ascent9.sql" and then "Restore From Dump..." or will simply renaming "ascent9.sql" to "world.sql" work ?
The file "ascent9.sql" is your world database.
Simply follow the steps i wrote and everything should work just fine.
If you did it like the way you are describing, then you must have lost your accounts and characters, since it will make a whole new world..?Quote:

There are two (2) databases for the Ascent server :
- character (for characters, accounts, etc...)
- world (teritory, NPCs and everything not related to "real people")
You can manipulate the world database how you want, it will never affect the character database.
ahh true. Its because i dont run with 2 DB/Worlds, mine is just one big World with all in it. but running 2 realms in one world. External and internal. Running great. but i can see its a safer way with the 2 worlds appart like that. Well iam very good at using my backup :-)Quote:

Is there any way to keep the latest released clean NCDB and at the same time have those custom vendors and teleports because when I try to restore the mafiaboy's ascent9.sql on NCDB 677 which bat file I ran before that - I get an error message on SQLyog ?
NCDB is actually just another world database.
If you are using Mafiaboy's world database, then you can't really use NCDB 677.
It's one or the other.
Yes but Mafiaboy's database is an older database without the latest fixes on NPCs/spells/talents/etc. and also have some custom adjustments which I don't need (example is the guard in stormwind moving with the speed of the light). I only want the vendors and the teleports but can I apply only them while still keeping the ability to use the latest released NCDB ?
You can fix the guard speed in like 2 min. Go into your sqlsys and under creature_proto find the sql id first on the guard, and set the walkspeed to 2.5 and runspeed to 8 same goes with the Orgrimmar guard.Quote:
