Now I Have a 4 Year Old DSL (SBC Yahoo) When I Wanted To Play My PS2 Online I Just Switched My Ethernet Cord From Comp. To PS2 And I Was On Fine. I Tryed That For My 360 And When I Try To Register It Cannot Find The IP Address. So I Entered The Info Manually And Still No Luck.
Does The Age Of My DSL Have Anything To Do With It. Or Whats Wrong
The same thing happend to me...I bought a new Ethernet Cord. After i bought it i connected one end on the back of my 360 and the other on my modem.Quote:

If that doesnt work then buy a router for your comp and a wireless system for the 360(what i am doing now) so you can play without any Ethernet shit.
I think the best thing for you is to call the xbox company. Go Xbox.com | Xbox.com Home and get their number. They helped me the most.
Also if you go on Xbox.com | Xbox.com Home there is a tab for support. Check if you can find anything helpful their.

no a DSL modem i slammed my router into a wall because the ******* thing never worked
this happened to me when a buddy of mine came to my house and we tried to connect to live. i also play ps2 online, and the 360 didnt work. called xbox, they ran tests, seemed good. it seemed though i had to open ports on my modem and router for it to allow the server to connect. as of what the ports are, i cant remember, i dont have acess to that router page anymore. but try calling Xbox and asking for the port to open

You are assigned 1 IP address from your ISP and your computer holds it. When you switch your cable to the x360. The x360 requests an IP address from teh ISP and since they already allocated you one you cannot get a second one.
