Any advice on a digital camera
So i want to get a decent camera, i got some stuff coming up that i want to have a camera for, and ofcourse for the next RaGEPARTY, so i'm looking for a camera that costs like 100-150 euro, size is not a real issue, nor is a high amount of megapixels (the lens itself is much more important), what is important is that it can make good pictures obviously, including in the dark (gotta make those pictures of MentaL screwing Flameings ear right?) and i want to be able to record some decent videos, i know the quality won't be amazing, but it has to have a decent recording resolution (the 1 i used at the last - wasn't mine btw - recorded at a resolution at 640x480 which is nice), and preferably some kind of stability control.
So nice pictures and decent video, that's what i really need. Stability for both and speed of snapping the pictures are pretty important aswell. Oh and 1 that uses either cheap memory (like SD - SDHC would be awesome) or perhaps memory stick pro duo, as i got a 4 gig in my PSP that i could use.

I'd like the same help if possible, dunno what my budget is yet but at very most I'd want to spend

Re: Any advice on a digital camera
I'm actually looking for something around what he's looking for.
The one i'm hopefully getting costs around 400 bucks, but it takes pictures like really fast you can take 5 pictures in less than 5 seconds. I like those cameras, but I think you're looking for something a little better than a nice digital. Try searching your local hardware stores :p
EDIT: I forgot, when you shop online, he's hella cheaper. I always get my stuff from online. :p

Re: Any advice on a digital camera
I know that already, i just need some good tips on where to look, or even exact models.

Re: Any advice on a digital camera
Gohan... Why bother asking? Do you know how often they change? Every month I check to see what's in that price range and every month a better thing is in it.
Right now that price range is 7.0-7.4mp depending on what brand you get. 6 months back a 6.2mp was $150usd.
So the best thing to do is look around when you actually go and buy it. You can get Kodak, Cannon, Samsung, Sony (for a little more), and others in that price range for the same quality.
So do your research that week.
For the most part the standard size ones use SD cards while Sony uses their media stick. The slim ones uses XD, Mini/Micro SD, and Sony's use memory stick duos.
Now for quality. Sony's are great quality from what I've seen with Kitten's camera while I've owned 2 Kodaks (one got stolen) and my mother has owned 1 and they are always good.
NoPeace - out

Re: Any advice on a digital camera
Wow weird coincidence. I just, literally 'just' got home from looking at cameras.
The guy said he best, small, camera was the Sony Super something was his best. It was in pink for the display.

I do, but they usually replace them with a new model, so if you got model c a few months ago, then model d would be interesting to look at. ;)
I also know absolutely nothing about camera's, and i can't be bothered to spend countless of hours in it to just buy 1.
Anyway i will check some of those brands.

Re: Any advice on a digital camera
I think the SonyCyber Shot selection is good for 100-150 euros really, If you're not looking for something to strappy and it's small :)

Re: Any advice on a digital camera
What about the new Sony Ericsson phone. It's around that price range and has a 5 MP camera. Unless you just want a dedicated camera?

all the pics I took at the rageparty were from my phone and tbh I don't need a new phone yet and I don't want to buy a phone just for it's camera.

Seriously... you really think i want to buy that crap to take pictures? Are you insane? Megapixels means shit. My dad had a digital camera 6 years ago, a 1 megapixel camera, and the pictures from it are still better then any camera in a phone out there. You know why? Because there was a good lens in it, something that is impossible to get in a phone, it's just to damn small and all that.
People really need to stop thinking that phones come even close to the quality of a actual camera.

Re: Any advice on a digital camera
Get canon cameras. They are the best digital camera =D

Re: Any advice on a digital camera
i have a panasonic lumix and it takes a good picture for the price it was.
i think this was the one we have but im not sure, record video at a decent quality and takes nice pictures

Re: Any advice on a digital camera
Can you give me some info on video options, what kind of resolutions does it support, how is stability etc
-
Re: Any advice on a digital camera
video: 320*240 @ 10/30 fps - 640*480 @ 10/30fps
has 2 stability modes for normal camera and video. mode 1 smooths things out nicely and mode 2 makes everything VERY smooth if not too smooth.
-
Re: Any advice on a digital camera
that's a good find, the picture quality looks good and the video resolution is perfect considering that it's all going on youtube anyway.

Sounds good. So if i get this right, if i will record videos with that i won't look like a drunken sailor?
Any chance you could record us a movie while walking or something, i would really appreciate that.

Re: Any advice on a digital camera
i'll see what i can do.
EDIT: a 20 second clip came out at 18mb so im converting it to something else

Re: Any advice on a digital camera
Quick calculation brings me to 74 minutes on a 4 gig, that's really sweet. I could just record pretty much as much as i want (battery life probably won't last longer anyway), dump it on the laptop that i will buy soon, and convert the files at night.
Imagine the amount of material i will have. :P
Anyway i really appreciate it. :)
Btw how are the pictures and recording while it's (pretty) dark.

Re: Any advice on a digital camera
this vidoes in the dark and its not too bad, i got it down to about 6mb for 18 seconds of video (after conversion) and its uploading to youtube now. i decided to go down my stairs which tested the motion stability. the end of the video is jerky as my jeans fell down :(
the conversion didnt take long and there was very little quality loss. the model i have is different from the one i posted but the only difference i can find is that it has a bigger lcd screen.
i also recorded at 640*480 which is probobly why it was so big, scaled it down to 320*240 for youtube

LMFAO :D
Anyway i will be recording at 640x480, with 4 gigs or perhaps even more then you really don't need to bother with anything lower.
