PS3 or X360?

Well, I may choose one of the 2 for my birthday(27th)
probably the first and last gift I ever'll get,
so I first refused 'cause I don't have alot of time to play THOUGH I really want one of those but I don't have those HDTV'S.

So could you guys point me the good one meant for me?
I was a PS guy, but I also got Xbox and I gotta tell ya' I loved Fable and Halo.
I was thinking of PS3 but you guys talked about a-lottaaaaaaaa' buggy things, so I'm afraid I can't take care of one of those 2 babies.

Depends on the games you want. As for being buggy. The x360 is buggy and the PS3 isn't. PS3 was buggy the first few months but it was quickly fixed and there is no problems with it at all.

I personally prefer the PS3. Mainly because it's quite compared to the x360. Other then that both systems play just as good. Especially if you don't have an HDTV as that's the only real difference maker. (PS3 comes with a Blu-Ray player).

So it's down to what games you prefer. Exclusives that is.

What about the heat?

From what i understand that problem has been fixed now, yes the 360 gets still hot, but the problem has been fixed, atleast it should. Basicly Microsoft sends "new" 360's to users when they get 1 in for repairs, the "new" was a older 360 that was send to them by someone else, they probably took it apart, redid the whole thing and put it back together with a undamaged casing. If the problem isn't fixed then Microsoft would be really retarded, and i really don't think they spend this much money to not properly fix the problem.

Basicly you should be safe, especially with the new HDMI packs.

It really comes down to the games, and if you care about Blu-Ray. If you like Final Fantasy then both consoles have their strong points, Sony has the name and many of the employee's, but so does Mistwalker, the team made by the creator of the Final Fantasy series who made/is making 2 exclusives for the 360.

Don't know about the heat problem being fixed or not. The new units (I just got the Elite) are only slightly cooler as they use only a little bit less power. Like 30-50w less power. Still they do get hot unlike the PS3s.

PS: If you can get the 60GB version. It offers almost 100% compatibility of PS2 and PS1 games. It actually has the Emotion Engine chip in it. Any other PS3 has software emulated compatibilty and therefore not quite as many games will work. If you don't care about PS1/PS2 compatibility, just go w/ the 40GB and order a bigger SATA Laptop Harddrive, then switch them out.

EDIT: Oh yeah, you might want to get a PSP lol. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 is supposed to come out in 2008. It is the Prequel to the Playstation 1's Final Fantasy 7. I have to get one now :(

The creator of the FF series including a bunch of his team are making exclusives for Microsoft, so basicly both consoles have half the quality.
The graphics are basicly the same, infact the 360 has a superior chip.

You missed out one of the biggest cons, which is the coding issues with the PS3. I don't know the technical babble, but I've just heard that it is notoriously hard to code for, hence the delay of a month or so on most titles.

Most of the games that are on the Ps3 are or will be ported to Xbox 360....
Xbox 360 has a more dynamic system for memmory and a better video card. . . most of the games look a lot better on the xbox than they do on the ps3
ps3 Blue ray is the only thing that makes the system have value... and not many people will use it...
Xbox Live despite being a pay services is a lot more user friendly / has WAY more features than the free Ps3 Online play. . . you cant compare Ps3 Online with Xbox live . . . and its only 50$ a year which is like 4.10$ a Month.

Also for those who would say that the xbox overheats etc. . . so does the ps3 under the same conditions . . . I owned my xbox for about 2 months and have used it for over 20 Hours a week.... mostly in large 12 hour Tourney sessions between me and my friends playing Halo3 with system link and xbox live.( and yes i mean my xbox has been on 12 hours non-stop ) (i have the Elite and I love it the 120 Gb HDD lets me Dl TONS of DEMOS off xbox live. . . you can even buy games online with xbox live and Dl them right to the drive. . . how can ps3 online compare to that. . . i used to play ps2 online it was always lag / sucked... even with port settings configured.. .. . PS3 was the bigest mistake in my opinion by Sony. . . the WII outsells it By tons and so does the Xbox. . . . I have been to BestBuy /Gamestop / Circuit City and everytime i see them "Trying to sell the ps3" but people flat out tell them that there son/cousin/child says the ps3 sucks and thats why there stocked up to there eyeballs with ps3s and have ZERO "wiis" and Xbox's...

Killzone Sucked and i hate FFantasy (All of them b4 7)( too much talking/pausing/sitting/shopping/watching cut scenes/Not enough gameplay. . ..litteraly cut all the crap out and u have a 20 min game).... . . id pick 1 copy of Halo 3 for 120$ over 5 Free Exclusive ps3 titles any day . . . the replay value is 10 X more.

Both systems are excellent.

Differences that you can really argue about

Different controller
Blu-Ray Drive (which has btw negative sides aswell due to a much lower reading speed)
Free online with the PS3 vs a much better, but paid service, on the 360
Different games and prices (the 360 has a large number of pretty cheap games due to them being out for upto 2 years)

That's really where it comes down to, yes the 360's videochip is better, and the cell processor of the PS3 can do a lot more then the 1 in the 360, and you could argue for ages about that, but in the end they both look amazing, and they give you the same expierence visually. Fact is that if i'd show you 1 movie from the 360 and 1 from the PS3, that you could not tell the difference.

So what games do you like? Are you a big online player? (definetly 360 as Xbox Live is impressive) Do you buy new movies and want them in HD? (obviously PS3)
In the end you have to ask yourself questions like that, all the technical shit is pointless to discuss.

Ps3 = HOME ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM ( DVD'S ETC Emphasized with BLue Ray)
xbox 360 = Online Gaming Fanatic ( But still has moderatly Great Home entertainment capabilities) ( you can link it to a pc and play your media using a built in windows mediacenter extender. . . dvd's etc.

3 things to mention here.

1) The graphics are the same compared to the x360
2) Only the US and JP 60gb models have the PS2 chips
3) The PS3 doesn't get hot. It gets warm and that's ok. Also never get an intercooler. They are stupid things that will kill your internal fans and zap some of the juice from the console's required power. The end result is that it only kills your system instead of helping it.

Yeah that's a big problem though Sony is finally learning their lesson and helping people with it.

Though the biggest problem is that the PS3 architecture is totally open. Anyone can go in and make something for it so it. With that Sony hopped they wouldn't have to bother by helping developers but it back fired.

Not many people will use Blu-Ray? Ever bothered to take a look at a electronics store in the last few months? :1:

I know over here in the states and over in Japan the HD craze is taking off. Then when you come down to it you have to choose either BluRay or HDDVD.

And guess what people are going for? BluRay because of the fact that it holds more big name titles and a lot of companies are backing it like stores and rental places.

BluRay, in my opinion, will replace DVDs in the next few years.

XBL is $60 for 13 months. ;)

And if you are going to argue graphics comparison then use things from current games.

Those are from first gen PS3 games which were x360 ports.

Look at the more recent ones.

Call of Duty 4 is identical on both systems.
Assassins Creed is identical on both systems though it has a better FPS on the PS3.
The Orange Box is the same on both systems.
Guitar Hero 3 is the same on both systems.
Rock Band is the same on both systems.
Oblivion looks better on the PS3.

Now look at the PS3 exclusives...
Uncharted
Motorstorm
Heavenly Sword
GT5: Prologue

Now those 4 games have some of the best graphics on consoles to date.

And no the PS3 doesn't overheat like the x360. My x360 is better ventilated then my PS3. So if what you said is true wouldn't my PS3 be overheating more often then my x360? Actually... it's the opposite. I've had 3 of the 4 x360s of mine to over heat. My newest one hasn't, which is a good thing. As for my PS3, it has never over heated.

How does the PS3 compare to downloadable content? Well the Playstation Store is much better done then XBL. Up until the fall update a few weeks ago the XBL store was horribly laid out. Now it's better but the Playstation Store is just easier to use and not to mention you don't need to wait money on points as everything you can buy with a simple credit or debit card.

And what can you download from it? Well PS3 games, arcade games, PS1 games, and added content. Sure you can't buy movies yet but that's going to be integrated latter and probably with Home.

And for 99% of the x360 owners out there they either have a 20gb HDD or a memory card. Which doesn't let them download much crap at all. At least with the PS3 it did come out with a 60gb one and then latter an 80gb and 40gb. Sure they had a 20gb model but they never sold them in bulk as the spent most of the resources on the 60gb.

And for connectivity. The PS3 actually comes with a built-in WiFi adapter. Unlike the x360 which charges you $100. As for Ethernet ports, the PS3 has a 1000/100/10mb port while the x360 has only a 100/10mb port.

So on a LAN perspective the PS3 has greater potential.

Now with PS2 online. That was a joke though the PS3 online service isn't. I've had more disconnections playing Halo 3 online or CoD4 online then I have with playing RFoM online and if you didn't know I've played RFoM online more then any other console game.

The online service for the PS3 is rock solid though that is it. There isn't any special match making stuff. Everything is in-game for now until Home comes out in a few months.

And I'm afraid you are mistaken about the PS3 not selling. The PS3 has actually been outselling the x360 recently since the 40gb model has come out.

And for the average person. They think the PS3 is better. Simply because of name recognition.

Now for the Wii. It isn't even a true gaming console and Nintendo isn't even aiming it to gamers. It's a mass market toy more then anything else. People are buying it out or curiosity because of the outrageous amount of marketing they have done on it.

Nintendo isn't about gamers no more. It's about appealing to the mass market with cheap, easy to use games.

PS3 games are not at a lower quality. They are at the same. Trust me. I've played games on both systems and they are equal. I've been mostly choosing games on 2 factors. Controller and if I want to play online.

If I want to play online then it's the x360 because of the larger user base. If not then it's down to if the controller is better suited for the game.

As for the Wii. It's to each others' personal opinion. I personally don't like it much. Simply because I'm an old school hardcore gamer. I have vastly different expectations then others. For the Wii, there is only one game I truly love on it and it's Mario Galaxy.

That's down to personal taste and not a raw fact. Many, and I mean many people love the Japanese style RPGs which are in fact little gameplay and lots of story.

So with those games I get more reply from them then I will ever get from Halo 3. Halo 3, to me was a waist. It was no where near as good as I expected it to be and offers very little replay for me since there are better games out there in the genre like CoD4. The only thing that compels me to replay Halo 3 is the achievements. Which is a big thing for the x360.

Achievement points give people a reason to replay the game. Which is a very good thing but to some people games are not about the gameplay and are about the story.

PS3 can use the media center extender also. And the x360 home entertainment capabilities are more then moderate. Video rentals and HDDVD play back are a major thing.

Though the only problem is the x360 runs hot and in doing so runs loud from the fans.
