[Mangos] Help! Character Fused With GM
Ok, this happened about 5 days ago, and as we've neither found a solution ourselves and as the problem hasn't fixed itself (hey, I could hope), I will try to recall all the details here in hopes someone has a better solution than "start a new character and do it all over again."
I know all the details might make for a "wall of text," but I'm just trying to give all the information I can in hopes that something gives someone an idea.
I had a level 27 human mage on my brother's private Mangos WoW server (just he and I play), and as my first aid skill was between 125 and 150, I wanted expert first aid. He said the book was in Stromgarde Keep, so I braved the place in an attempt to find the merchant (unfortunately, I took the wrong direction at the beginning, so I died several times before noticing there was an Alliance area in the keep). As a mage, I used the spell "blink" a lot both while I was in the keep and while I was running to/from it.
Around the time I found the human area, my brother's level 200 human priest GM character also found it and was standing around the area (actually, he pointed me to the correct merchant). He was apparently bored, so he was experimenting with the polymorph spell, but he only targeted himself the entire time (he never targeted my character).
After learning expert first aid and buying all the other first aid skills the merchant had, I was leaving the keep via jumping (or blinking, I don't recall which) off the bridge in the front of the keep. I continued running back to the nearby gryphon spot without a problem on my computer, but on my brother's computer, I was a black cat standing on the bridge. Somehow even though my brother was still targeting the polymorphs at himself, his red dragon and black cat spells (not sure of their actual names, they may have even been GM commands.. I'm not sure) turned "me" (the me standing on the bridge) into those creatures, then almost no other spells/commands worked on me.
Meanwhile on my computer, I rode my gryphon back to the wetlands and landed safely. I walked in the tavern, noticed there were no longer any NPCs around, and then the game crashed. At this point, "I" was still a black cat with my character's name on my brother's computer.
Upon restarting the server and logging back into my account, I noticed my level 27 human mage character was missing, although I still had my level whatever-it-was-at-the-time dark elven warrior. It turns out, my character (at least in terms of its name) was moved to my brother's GM account on the server. Although his GM remained fine, "my character" on the "select character" screen appeared to be a fusion between my character and his GM character. It was a level 200 human priest (matching the GM) with the GM's appearance, but it had my equipment.
My brother used some program that comes with Mangos to transfer "my character" back to my account. He then logged into his admin, and I logged into my messed up character. We hoped to fix the problem. On his screen, I was a character matching the appearance on the "select character" screen in that area with the portal to Darnassus (he had to teleport to me) where I had gone to get alchemy training not too long before the server crashed. On my computer, I was still a black cat in Ashenvale (where he had teleported me to get expert cooking between when I was in Darnasses and when I hearthstoned to the Wetlands to take a gryphon to the Arathi Highlands to go to Stromgarde Keep).
Immediately after I logged in, my cat and all the elves around began to fall through the floor on my screen, but I wasn't doing anything on my brother's screen. He tried polymorph commands and such to try to make my character normal again, but my character somehow developed a resistance to the commands. Luckily, the stop command worked and my "cat" stopped falling (I think the elves on my screen continued though). When I ran again on my screen, my character would run in strange directions/speeds on his screen, but when I ran into the teleporter on his screen, I just passed right through.
I still had my normal character's quest log, inventory, and equipment, but my skills and toolbar customization were gone, and my map matched that of the GM. After his using a command to kill my character, I was human again, but I still had the GM's appearance and I was still a level 200 priest. He was able to give me a few random skills (which all went into the general catagory), some of them zzOLD_______, but none of the commands that were supposed to affect me in other ways that he tried actually worked.
We logged out, and after he restarted the server again, we logged back in. This time we were both in Darnassus (at least I was, he might have had to use the teleporter in that other spot). Also this time, I had all my mage spells, but as I was still considered a priest, they were grouped in general, and I couldn't learn more from the mage trainer. I also had my customized toolbars back and even my skills fishing, cooking, first aid, herbalism, and alchemy (along with others I wasn't supposed to have such as mining). The maximums for the skills I was supposed to have were correct (in other words, I had the correct classification (apprentice, journeyman, expert, artisan), and I even had all the recipes, but all the skill levels were at 1 (1/75, 1/150, 1/225, 1/300). My weapon and defense skills were all maxed out though (1000/(5*level200=1000)). My maps and appearance still remained the GM's.
He was able to change my level back to 27, but not with my additional bit of experience I had before the error, and my weapons/defense skills were now 1000/135, but they didn't seem that effective when testing them in battle. When testing my herbalism, I couldn't gather anything in the wetlands because it was too high-leveled for my 1/300. I could cook any of my recipes that I had the ingredients for (they were all listed as orange), but my skill was still currently 1/225.
I would be able to deal with the different appearance and maps and lesser skill levels if only my character could be turned back to a mage (although I would love to restore him in his entirety), but none of the proper GM commands are working when he tries to fix me. I would not be able to deal with redoing all those quests and releveling. It took me a considerable amount of time to do everything I did in the game, and I planned to continue doing stuff.
Please help me with whatever advice you can give about how to get my character back. My brother has tried using all the normal commands, and he even tried a couple of things in some other database outside of the game (he at least tried the ones that he could figure out where they were stored and how they worked).
I commend you if you actually read all of this, and I beg for your help.
Now let's hope there isn't an error posting the message, causing me to retype all of this, so I can just paste it if something goes wrong.
That's funny. There was an error, and the "back" button didn't give me all my text back. Thank you, copy/paste!
Re: [Mangos] Help! Character Fused With GM
I was transformed into an elemental for the longest time... and if your seeing the zz__old stuff I'm going to have to assume this is a slightly older server running a SDB. (Silvers Database). Check with your brother and find out what server revision he's using, what version client it accepts, what Database he's using, and you can try the .reset commands. Those were able to completely remove the effects of the morph. do a .reset spells and see what happens then. (This may remove your herbalism skill) you can however relearn it and have him use the .setskill command to reset it to its former value.
