Get codeblocks (Code::Blocks IDE - Open Source, Cross-platform Free C++ IDE), its better than devc++.
It is probably something with header files/compile settings that it didn't compile, shadow-xx's post should work.
I think there are more C++ tutorials than VB/C# ones, C++ is available for quite a long time.
