I saved them a while ago to a disc.. There's a few different methods, I would just like to give a very good strategy, because even with a good one you can get unlucky and have to try and try againQuote:

i dont think there is anyone who beat ruby weapon on the first try...my first try was around level 50 and i didnt even knew kotr existed at the time.I was still trying to find a way and revive aeris
yeah i was told about mimicing KOTR or something, couldn't quite pull if off though lolQuote:

#1 w/o KotR method
Kill all but Cloud.
Equip with Apocalypse/Mystile/Ribbon.
Do this materia Setup:
Weapon: W-Summon, HP Plus, Magic Plus
Armor: Bahamut ZERO=HP, Absorb Bahamut ZERO=Quad Magic, Counter=Mime
In Battle:
1. Summon Bahamut ZERO twice.
2. Sleep for about 1.5 hours.
OR
You would need about 8 mime materia and 8 counter materia (the blue one not the purple "counter attack" materia) MASTERED. Then you need your ultimate weapon or a weapon that has 4 LINKED slots. Equip the mime with the counter materia on every single slot. For your armor, the wizard bracelet is the best one since it has slots like your ultimate weapon. Use a few hero drinks when you're in battle to boost up your stats.
For best results, use Cloud with Omnislash or Barret with Ungarmax with those materia and equipment. Be ready to have your limit break ready and full. Enter the battle, use the limit break once and do nothing else. Emerald Weapon will attack you and you will mime your limit break 8 times because of the counter materia, until it dies. This method will take a long time since you need all 8 of those materia to be mastered for it to work. Hero drinks are also good to have on the person doing the limit breaks
#2 KotR method
Characters (Equipped items and materia):
Cloud (Mystile armor, Enhanche Sword, Ribbon, HP Absorb linked to KOTR, Mimic, W-Summon, Magic Plus, Bahamut ZERO linked to Quadra Magic, Final Attack linked to Phoenix, and the rest of the materia slots filled with HP and MP Plus)
Any other character with high speed (Sprint Shoes, Enemy Skill)
The battle:
The first this you should do is cast Big Guard with the character with the Enemy Skill materia. Then you hope that Cloud isn't the one who Ruby whirlsands away. If he is, just reset the game and try again until he's the one left.
Then start your attack by casting Bahamut ZERO twice. BZ will be cast five times, eight if Quadra Magic is at level two or higher. You won't probably do any serious damage to Ruby, but that's not the point. The point is to get him to stick his tentacles in the ground. At this time you MUST have at least 250 MP left, if not, use a Turbo Ether or Elixir to boost you up. Now cast KOTR twice, once at the tentacles and once at Ruby himself. If KOTR is at level one, it will only be cast once, on the tentacles, but that's okay. Since you've got a lot of magic power, thanks to Magic Plus, the tentacles will probably be destroyed, and because you've got KOR linked with HP Absorb, you'll be healed to full health too. After this, just use Mimic every turn until Ruby goes belly up. Every turn, you'll cast KOR twice for zero MP, and get healed to full health after each KOR.
You don't have to worry too much about Ruby's counterattacks, because thanks to the Mystile armor, he'l miss most of the time, and then you'll get healed by KOR. Just keep mimicing, and you'll kill Ruby in no time.

#3 Hades approach
The way I used to beat Ruby is very unorthodox. First I equipped
W-Summon, MP Turbo linked to Master Summon, Master Command, Elemental on the armor, Fire linked to it and Ribbon to any character with their ultimate weapon. Then I went and fought at another battle near Ruby. I am not insane, but I killed the other characters who I did not equip the materia on. I went on to fight Ruby.
First when he extended the tentacles, I cast Hades on the tentacles and Hades on Ruby. When they were stopped, I used Knights of the Round on Ruby twice until he began moving. Then I used Hades again to freeze both of them. I did this until he retracted his arms.
Then I kept doing Knights of the Round until I beat him. He gives you Desert Rose.
(by soul edge)
=========
Pretty much the "fastest" way to beat him is to use KotR in some way. It may take a few turns to set it up correctly but in the end you get a nice gold chocobo from some crazy old man in kalm.. so life is good, eh? :animal_ro
Note: Nothing is 100% all the time, as conditions in the fight may mess things up, so you kind of have to get lucky, especially at the beginning. And it helps to be nicely leveled and with master/near master materia.
Pfft FMV downloads are for noobs who can't beat the game to watch the FMVs :P
