Server Security Conditions
I maked thise guide to more mu servers become more protected... almost 40% of all servers in the world almost dont have any protection... :busted_co so read thise ! :)
Firewall
1. What is firewall - It's a program that blocks any uncnown packets what's sending to aplications who is added to list of packet filter.
2. Which firewall is the best - Sygate Firewall, or Kerio Firewall.
3. What shold i block with that ? - DataServer1, DataServer2, JoinServer, MU2003_EAVENT_SERVER, RankingServer, ExDB. You must keep ConnectServer, GameServer NOT blocked.
4. Add Apache.exe to permited applications list !
5. Block C:/Program Files/Microsoft SQL Server/80/Tools/Binn/sqlmangr.exe and C:/Program Files/Microsoft SQL Server/MSSQL/Binn/sqlservr.exe
Web Security
1. After installing Mu Web delete /install/ folder from your web server.
2. If you dont need administrator.php - move it from your web server folder to some other place, and when you will need that - just move that back.
3. Delete PhpMyAdmin folder !
Data Base Backuping
1. Some every 2 - 3 days make reserver database, better store that at some CD-RW, Memory Stick or Flash Memory.
2. Dont send your database files to anyone !
Router
1. If you have a Router - use it ! Some routers models have surre verry powerfull security !
Distributed Denial Of Service
1. To prevent Denial Of Service Atacks (DDOS) just dont provoke peoples to do that ! It's can save your server !
2. I will explain what is DDOS with 6 words - You Server Will Be not available.
Windows Update
1. Make a Windows Update every day !
I hope thise information will helps a lot of peoples ! :busted_co
Re: [Release] Server Security Conditions
Haha I liked "You Server Will Be not available." :P
But maybe this should go under guides, not release :)?
Re: [Release] Server Security Conditions
Nice but maybe is for guide selection
Re: [Release] Server Security Conditions
Re: [Release] Server Security Conditions
Everything good, but i do not agree whith Windows update (just my opinion).........
Re: [Release] Server Security Conditions
Depends if you know what to choose from Windows Updates... I mean not all that shit is good for the server ^^
Re: [Release] Server Security Conditions
Shagoon, it's true too, but windows update can prevent damage too.
Re: [Release] Server Security Conditions
Im going with Shagoon.. Some windows update sh!t you donwnload even tries to open ports lol so don't update...
By the way if you are using muweb 8.0 , then you should edit it a bit, because its not fully protected. there are still some glitches..
Quit good guide..
Re: [Release] Server Security Conditions
DDoS is not a thing many ppl can do
you need acces to atleast 100 pc's to be able to do a proper DDoS
PS: sygate sucks a lot of your net bandwith, best is to use a hardware firewall, if you really don't have a hardware firewall use norton's firewall, its the best
Re: [Release] Server Security Conditions
I use Sygate and i dont have any problems
Re: [Guide] Server Security Conditions
best firewall is windows 2003 firewall
if u have a dedi; ddos will do nothing to your pc. (try to ddos microsoft.com, see what happens - same idea)
some s3 GSs do not support win 2k3 sp2 update - some windows updates are not necessary.
db baks can be done with a mssql job :)
rest is good. ppl might learn, ty
Re: [Guide] Server Security Conditions
Re: [Guide] Server Security Conditions
Hardware "firewall" anyway is the best, beacose it's inscluding Anti DDOS (Packet limiter). About windows update - just check open ports after update, and block it.

Hmm. Hard to believe that something from microsoft would be the most secure/stable/efficient (M$ does not tend to evoke such descriptions of its products) - but I can't really comment as I haven't checked this particular app..

Direct DoS is pretty much impossible against a dedi, but DDoS or RDDoS can easily take down a dedicated server of any magnitute if your botnet is large enough. Google, Micro$oft, Yahoo etc have been taken down before using distributed attacks.

Yep it's good to have these things laid out, for new ppl it's helpful to educate, and even for advanced users it's always good to check you didn't forget something
Re: [Guide] Server Security Conditions
I have a question? What is the best way to backup database?
