[Ascent] Windows setup vs Linux setup HELP!!!
I can connect locally on my linux server... SWEET, but I want others to connect to the server outside of my server. I have all my ports forwarded CORRECTLY (I have a picture in another thread) and no firewalls setup.
Now, my vista server on the SAME network can have users outside of my local network connect and play, but my linux box can't. Puzzled I looked at the set-up guide from ragezone and noticed this WINDOWS specific thing...
- Click Create Host.
- Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\ and open HOSTS with Notepad.
- Put this in at the bottom:
Code:
127.0.0.1 (Dynamic DNS)
(Internal IP) (Dynamic DNS)
(External IP) (Dynamic DNS)
The Dynamic DNS is the name of the host you just created. Example: test.ath.cx
The Internal IP is the IP of your computer. To check this go to Start > Run > Type cmd then once Command Prompt is open, type ipconfig /all.
The External IP is the IP that was auto detected by DynDNS.
Now, that doesn't exist in Linux.. does it? This could be the thing stopping others from connecting.
Also, my realm list is NOT my loopback address (127.0.0.1) it's my dynamic dns. and YES, all my configuration files are correct (if you don't believe me then look around this forum and see my other threads).
It could be simply my router.. a dlink D-Link DGL-4300 with 1.8 firmware.
Ideas?
