I'm wondering, I recently had a headache and accidently poured some surgical spirit into a spoon. I didn't swallow it, but it went in my mouth, so I was wondering, if anyone here has any advice. I rinsed my mouth out and had some chewing gum to remove the taste.
What should I do?

Well, if you didn't swallow it, there is no need to worry. But I don't really know the stuff, so if it's highly toxic or something you probably should see a doctor.

The stuff is basically pure methylated spirits. It's not toxic unless swallowed I believe and many people put some in their mouth then spit it out and ignite it for effects. But I just need complete reassurance.
It's spirits... Pure alcohol basically, its poisonous if you drink the entire bottle and get liver failure and have to get your stomach pumped from alcohol poisoning. Thats it. It also tasted bad.
Well spirit does not only contain ethanol but also methanol, which can make you blind. So it is pretty dangerous. (unless you're blind)Quote:
