Germany - BVG striking from friday to saturday ._.

I already know that there are almost none Germans here and no1 probably from Berlin(capital of Germany). However this is something that really concerns a lot of students and workers here in Berlin. BVG (Berlin transport companies) are striking from friday night til saturday noon. Thousands of students won't get their school report tomorrow, which they would because tomorrow is the last day of this semester(for most of us). The only public transport left is the S-Bahn transit but a lot have to walk a long way in order to get there. It will take me half an hour in order to reach one of their stations...Did they really have to decide to strike on that day? No busses, no subway, no tramway/streetcar. /ends being pissed about it.

Sounds like London's Tube tbh...

How long they going on strike for? Schools should give an extended deadline for all work that's required tbh, well... Decent schools/colleges will.

3AM Friday til 3PM Saturday. This is just their first strike. The DB (DeutscheBahn = GermanRailways) had been on strike before for lotsa times...Now that they have reached their target, BVG will do the same.

My busses are run by BVG...wtf. They would of let us know. But then again Im not from Berlin or that close to it so Im safe really...but why do they wear BVG vests or somethin. Im so confused right now.

Two years ago the MTA went on strike here. New York's equivalent of BVG. It was insane. My Christmas break was extended to 3 weeks because they had to shut the school's down. Many people were not able to get to work. Those that did had to drive and they all left two hours earlier than usual due to the immense amount of traffic caused by the spike in car use. Everything went haywire. Hope the strike gets settled quickly, not like this long long writer's strike in the US.

Although it wasn't as bad here, last year we had a similar situation. I ended up giving a friend my ID card so he can pick up my report because he had a car. Along with 35 other people that've done the same.

Gosh that was one hell of a day ._. It was coooold and I've never seen so many people using S-Bahn transit before. My school report was better than I had expected it to be though :tongue:

haha what a coincidence ours are also on strike
and are called BKV its in Hungary.

They will be on strike from staurday 3 Am -----> until they come to an agreement with the goverment.

Friday night 3am? So thats Saturday morning? So it's 3am to 3pm? That's only 12 hours... what's the big deal?

Friday 3AM - Saturday 3PM = 36 hours >_>
(Saturday morning would be 3AM Saturday wouldn't it?)

Friday 3am meaning Thursday night? Be more clear, you said Friday NIGHT so i had to assume you meant 3 hours after midnight on Friday.
