2007- Xbox 360 Sells 7.3 Million, Sony PS3 Sells 8.8 million!

Today sony released its Q3 figures showing sales of 4.90 million units worldwide.

The total for 2007 is now 8.83 million units, taken from official Sony numbers

According to Gamespot, Microsoft's tally for 2007 was 7.3 million units.

Microsoft had many of their heavy hitters last year and still could not mange to beat Sony. This just proves that places outside of the US can have a big effect in sales

But in total the 360 has sold more... maybe close to double?

according to those figures 16.13 milion people no longer give a shit about threads like this

I don't see all the numbers for 2007 for the PS3...

dont worry gohan what hes done is too add the 2006 sales onto the first three quarters for ps3 and then claim that 2007 is made up of sales since april 2006 :P

that whitout any great system sellers
2007 xbox 360 had there top games , halo 3 / mass effect etc
ps3 dident really have any system sellers , yet the last 4 months it has been outselling the 360 worldwide
that is pritty decent
2008 will have some great system sellers for sony , in april u got mgs4 / gran tourismo prolouge
and later on killzone 2 and ff 13 so its logical to asume the trend will continue

Sony is making more than Xbox is because Xbox hasn't been around for Aslong..
Though PS3 would win becauses its more newer.

Alot of the xbox's are not manufactured good I'd rather use a ps3 Xbox you need to pay for the wireless adapter

Etc? Those were the only exclusives that i bought. Other top games like Assassin's Creed, Team Fortress 2, Guitar Hero 3, Rock Band, Call of Duty 4 and a bunch of others were released on both. That's why the PS3 been doing well, not because they're gaining exclusives, but it's gaining quality games, making the PS3 worth buying.
In the end though it's Sony's lame ass tricks to sell consoles, and unfortunaly stupid people all over the world are falling for it. Because let's face it, the 40GB is a complete rip-off with the removal of backwards compatibility, 2 USB ports and the card reader, all of that saved them what? 3 bucks? (loading up software costs pretty much nothing since it was made for it's release already, and you can get a cardreader with USB splitter for about 10 euro around here, making the production costs less then 3 euro for sure)
And that's why i think there sales are crap, because they're just ripping off people, here in Europe you can't even get a PS3 with backwards compatability anymore, they will probably release 1 someday again, but then they will just raise the price quite a lot. And that's what they will keep doing, screwing with their models to increase sales, to make people think they're offering a good deal.

Anyway the biggest price drops are behind us now, which means the sales will be decreasing again, even if they outsell the 360 by 18k a month like you claim, then it would take them roughly 37 years before they catch up.

vgcharts uses official data , the only place ppl don't know where vgcharts gets there official info from is Europe , but even then they have always been close to reality
if u know u better site that does what vgchartz do (compare all hardware /software sales for all consoles) then plz share it with the rest of us

the reason y the ps3 has been selling well since its price cut is because they have the largest fanbase of all ( over 120 million ps2 sold)
and allot of ppl were waiting for a decent price cut to take place , and of course now with blue ray that has clearly won over hd dvd ( i think ir was 80% of all major movie company's have gone blue ray now) u can get a cheap blue ray player to
the reason y i say that is because upto now the software sales on the ps3 have sucked so its not the games that r selling the ps3 atm

the 40 gig model does suck but none the less i think buying a peace of hardware with a 33% failure rate(xbox) is even more stupid( i m 1 of them as my xbox broke down twice )
fact is when ur waranty ran out , ur xbox is doomed , and even then when i buy a peace of hardware of 400 usd i do not expect it to break down whitin months having me go true all the trouble of sending it back to microsoft waiting a month every single time to get my xbox back

If Ps3 is selling so well then why are ps3 exclusive games right being sold to 360 as well, Look at Haze it was supposed to be a ps3 exclusive, the developers thought it would succeed more on the 360 so they gave the game to them as well.

Newer consoles aren't plagued with the problems of the old ones.

Microsoft put their hands up and admitted their error, and spent a lot of money to fix it. Sony won't fix your PS3 because it "has too much dust". True story.

ur talkign about a game (gta4) that is in production before the ps3 started to sell well
and wile we r at it ,last week sony bought the exclusive rights for gta5 Nr 7 in the series actually
Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC and HDTV News

as i said in my first post , even now with the new falcon chip (65nm) the xbox360 has a unusual high failure rate (estemated at 16% actually)

and story's like that r from both sides ,and dont forget the extended waranty from microsoft only applys to the Rrod
so not to any other hardware related problems (like the dvd roms breaking down)

GTA 4 is just 1 of many to which Sony has lost exclusive rights or other special deals to.

no killzone 2 is the so called response to halo 3 , but i wouldent call it that
actually haze is pritty famous among the ps3 community only for its delays :p 6 months delays

sony doesnt lose money on its ps3 anymore , last month they cut there production cost in half , the ps3 is costing them around 350-400 usd to make , use to be 750-800 usd
they made allot of changes to it including shrinking the cpu to 65 nm ,allsow they decreased it power use bye 35%

That site misquoted or left some stuff out, it has nothing to do with GTA, Sony made a exclusive deal with Rockstar for something else. Definetly not GTA.

And if the PS3 costs them 350-400 to make, then they're losing money, afterall the store has to make a profit, and so do the people who spread them around after it comes out the factory.

No matter what, xbox 360 will always be better. Just because of the economy growth on PS3 doesn't mean the x360 is worst. Xbox360 has better games the PS3 in my opinion... put halo 3 on all the systems with internet, than everything will pwn.

PS3 definately fail. 360 roqqz.

Honestly, one super console would solve all of this. Aside from that, I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 did a little better this year as it just got released and it was the first rush to get it. The 360 has been doing much better overall in sales figures and the lack of PS3 exclusives is just one way to see that.

While 1 console would have it's advantages, it would also get companies to stop competing, and competition is good.

yeah Im talking about th 350 - 400 usd package. EGM did a review on the console prices, see how much each console is worth AND see how much profit they get, wii came in 1st place with the xbox 360 and with ps3 DEAD last.

Lol. No. You have failed on an epic scale. They have just reassured their position with the extended warranty.

I work at GameStop here in Dallas and the 3 things we are always sold out of are Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, and Xbox 360 Arcade, Pro, and Elites. We have about 30+ PS3 40g in the back room collecting dust and taking up more space than our Rock Band Bundles.
