[HELP] New PC parts
Hi there, i just need some help with a few things im having trouble with, firstly i bought a new DVD Burning its the Pioneer DVR-215 Sata, ive got it all plugged in and it works but it shows up as DVD-RAM under My Computer, also it wont Auto-play dvd's and sometimes when i take a dvd out and put in a new one it doesnt refresh and it thinks it has the previous dvd in the drive...so any help on this would be nice :)
Secondly im looking to upgrade to AM2+, now im currently running an AM2 setup, but what i want to do is buy the new parts in pieces and not all at once, firstly i want to buy the motherboard, and i was reading in placing that AM2 CPU's fit onto AM2+ MB's, if this is true am i able to run my AM2 X2 6000+ on the new AM2+ boards? because that would be helpful in the process of upgrading, i cna buy it in portions purely due to not wanting to throw all the money in at once.
basically i was looking at buying this MB (Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4 Motherboard [GA-MA790X-DS4] - $187.00 : PC Case Gear, Quality case accessories and components)
Thanks for help in advance.

Re: [HELP] New PC parts
upgrade the firmware on your dvd drive, then install aspi, make sure your windows xp is running at least sp2.
am2 and am2+ is a sticky business since your current motherboard might have a bios update that may make it compatable.
but right now the amd platform is broken, simply put you have to look carefully what you buy to make sure it will have some support.
like msi should have support for about 6 months if its a new motherboard, so any processors that come out in those 6 months they should release bios updates to support the processors.
pc chips, as rock, to name some .. are tottaly crap mobo manufacturers and have poor bios support.
i cant suggest anything right now apart from waiting until amd fix their cpus and decide wether they are going to use new socket or not. i have read that they might drop am2+ and go for a new socket to support full fancy pants amd cpus.
