Need some advice on a laptop
A while ago i was planning to buy a second hand laptop, but i pretty much decided not too. Basicly my plan is that when i live on my own (which will be in the next 4 months or so) then i want to put this PC in a spare room or bedroom so that i don't have it in my living room. Basicly i don't want it there, i don't use it for gaming anymore, it's getting old to the point where simple laptops are already faster, and with a laptop i can just put it somewhere and keep a clean look in my livingroom. Not to mention all the extra handy stuff you have with a laptop.
So since it will replace most of my PC usage (i will still use this for downloading and such, and i will hook it up to my 360 to watch downloaded videos) it's important it works fast enough, so where as before my plan was to just use the laptop in rare cases, it's now the other way around, and i'm not going to spend lots of time on a slow ass pc. ;)
I won't be buying it for gaming, i will probably play a few games on it, but there is no way in hell i'm going to pay shitloads of cash to be able to run the latest games, i honestly don't care about that, so videochip is absolutely not important.
A 15 inch screen will be fine, i'm not blind so... so all that i prefer is a dual core (not a huge deal if it raises the cost of the laptop to much) and 2 gig memory as i will obviously be getting a Vista laptop, and there is no way i'm running Vista with 1 gig.
I'm looking for a price pretty much as low as i can get. Here in the Netherlands you always get a 2 year warranty on these sort of things (i don't know if it's limited to computer related stuff, or just for everything, either way all the stores offer the 2 year warranty as they have to), so getting a deal from Dell with extra warranty (3 years) doesn't really add that much value, and Dell laptops run higher in price then laptops from example Acer.
Obviously we all have different prices in various countries, but since prices in comparison aren't that different you can just mention whatever currency you use to compare or whatever.
Re: Need some advice on a laptop
Wait till the 9600m comes out then you'll be able to find decent performing laptops that don't get too hot and drain to much power.
That along with a C2D will be more then capable for most games and give a pretty decent battery life.
NoPeace - out
Re: Need some advice on a laptop
although i agree with nopeace on the 9600m - i do not believe that laptops will have highly capable hardware with supre powersaving features simply because a single advance that would bring so much performace would kill all competition and all innovation.
we will never have descent graphics cards and well performing laptops that work reasonaly long on battery its just crazy talk, it would eliminate the need for desktop pcs ..
but yeh wait and see what santa brings witht he 9600m bcuz 9600 gt as been so very impressive so far
Re: Need some advice on a laptop
Yeah but i don't care much for the gaming part, such chips will probably make the laptop cost 200 more atleast, i do got other shit i need to buy aswell. ;)
