[PC][MMORPG] Guild Wars questions
Well I haven't really heard too much about guild wars, most play wow, mu, l2 and free games. I seen screenshots, the graphics look awesome (I think better then l2). You also only pay a single time.
Can I hear some1 with experience say sth about it ? (also the movement is WoW-like or L2-like ?)
I was preparing to get the collector's edition of Age of Conan, but I still have my doubts :).
Thanks.

Re: [PC][MMORPG] Guild Wars questions
I'm sorry I've never actually play it, but i could suggest checking out the post I made about choosing a game, I mentioned guild wars, and I think there was some good info about it, not sure now.

Re: [PC][MMORPG] Guild Wars questions
Guild-wars is a great game, allthough Guildwars 2 is about to go open beta in a few months. i recommend you to wait for that as you get tired of guildwars after a while, so my recommendation is to wait for the second version of the game, Also gw2 is a one time pay aswell. no monthly fees

Re: [PC][MMORPG] Guild Wars questions
To answer your question, the movement isn't as free as WoW, more L2-like. Both PVE and PVP are good fun, skill system is awesome. No harm in jumping into Guild Wars too, the games are pretty cheap and it'd be a good idea to get the EOTN expansion as well if you're planning on getting Guild Wars 2 when it's out.

Re: [PC][MMORPG] Guild Wars questions
I love the game, I love how it's Party system is so balanced.
The enviroment is great imo, especially in Nightfall/EotN. The community is great too, once you're in a guild (which is pretty quick).
With GW, people should only get it if they like the idea of party hunts, etc. Soloing is a no no. The classes are im-blanced, but that's why you need to be in a party.
One thing I love is the NPC AI (Henchmen/Heros); If you've just started playing, need to complete a mission to get some exp/levels, it's pretty hard to do it solo. So you party up with some NPCs who offer their skills (Characters and NPCs share the same classes/skills/etc).
But yeah, I highly reccomend it. What you should do is get the Nightfall collector's edition which is about

Just remember, GW2 will most likely be very different.

Ayye, they'll be using a new engine for everything. Plus I heard they're implementing things like z-axis control, and small things like 100/infinite level cap.
-
Re: [PC][MMORPG] Guild Wars questions
Yes, the level cap will be much higher and there may not even be one from what they've said. There's going to be a z-axis as well. Huge areas, and not everything is instanced, only some areas (probably just story-line missions). There will also be huge world vs world (well country not world but w/e) that take place in the Mists. And much more. I feel that its going to be epic.

Re: [PC][MMORPG] Guild Wars questions
And you can fucking jump at GW2!!

Re: [PC][MMORPG] Guild Wars questions

Z-axis ;)
Guy above me, every GW has had a level cap of 20. Considering there's only been 1 game and 3 expansions.

Re: [PC][MMORPG] Guild Wars questions
Guildwars was one of the best MMORPG' s (maybe the best) i ever played. There are about 5000 quests and tons of missions. The community is just big, and this game never gets boring cuz after lvl 20 you still can lvl. But i'm still w8ing for the 2nd part of the Game.
If you want any informations, just ask me.

Re: [PC][MMORPG] Guild Wars questions
GW i huge i played it alot
you dont have to waste alot if time to lvl
because the lvl cap is lvl 20 after lvl 20 you gain skill
points you can use to improve your build
pvp is nice its balanced no one is overoperd
you can start a new lvl 20 char to pvp
pve char's can be used to pvp 2
once you beaten a game you can do alot more
like dungeons / quests / titles / explore
once you leave a town / outpost
you and your party get your own copy of the worl
there wont be any other players..
they have weekend events like dubble chest drop
dubble die drop etc
each guild can buy a guild hall (in game mony)
you can travel to the guild hall from most places..
but i stopped playing a while ago because areanet keeps
nerfing way too mutch

Sorry I'm not that intelligent enough to use cool words.

Re: [PC][MMORPG] Guild Wars questions
The level cap of 20 does not matter at all. Honestly it's not like you ever feel underpowered or anything. Leveling never really matters. What matters is how prepared you are in terms of skills, inventory, team and strategy. I feel that's better than kicking every thing's ass because you stay home all day and play instead of learning or working.

I only learnt it from an IGN article :P
But aye, GW is more about strategy, skill and teamwork, rather than uber-powered items and high levels.
With GW you can't simply buy a sword and immediately be able to kick everyone's ass, you need to make sure your weapon is covering an area you're lacking in, make sure you have enough skill points top wear it, etc..

Re: [PC][MMORPG] Guild Wars questions
In gw lvl doesnet mater its all about the right build + gear
the lvl cap of 20 is one of the best things sbout gw no need to stay up day an night just to
lvl
lvl 20 can be done in 1/2 days..

yea honestly if you guys play hit me up with your IGNs. My mains are Nisopia Shadowblade and Aroth Shadowblade. Add one to your friends list, i'll be on this weekend. The community is indeed great btw. It has been rapidly decreasing though. With a good guild and alliance though and All chat turned off in most huge towns, you can still avoid most idiots. Most good people come out during events. All chat is sorta safe then.
