I have sorta both :)
Photographic, normal and textual. I can remember lots of things written down, pictures of things and just generally remember to do something (I often forget things alot because I'm remembering so many things (wtf?))
Umm... I don't really know what does "photographic" "normal" or "textural" memory means. Anyone can give me a clue to what each exactly means?
Photographic - You can remember picture memories/things
Normal - Generally remembering anything like to buy a loaf
Textual - Remember texts or specific words or shit like that

I very much doubt you could function very well if you didn't have all of them. I guess some people excel at one type but I'd rather be able to use them all. If you only had a photographic memory how could you read if you cannot remember words? If you can only remember words how can you identify faces?
I guess personally I excel at images. I'd much rather be able to remember words/equations better as it would be far more useful :( A *normal* memory doesn't seem very useful what with the invention of calendars/mobile phones etc.
ppl who claim to have a photographic memory, u do understand that seeing or remembering pictures is different to a real photographic memory?
Im not quite sure what they all mean exlam, what im saying is that i can remember things, and i can remember them as picutres.

If I really focus I can reach the fotographic memory status but only for a short while like if I look at some formulas or a painting I can just "paint" it again on paper but it's gone really fast.
Ya I do have it then because I can recall images , sounds, faces, etc.
Textual. I memorize passages faster than normal people.
I do have eidetic/photographic memory. My IQ is 152. Most people with 135+ have some level of total recall.
Memorization has never been a problem for me.
As a quick example, I'm able to easily go through and memorize thousands of chess positions/openings in a matter of two or three days. I have most openings memorized down to the 21st or 22nd move, including most common variations and deviations. Unless you do something really wild and uncommon, I don't have to think about my next move unless you deviate from the main lines.

I rely on visual memory the most, and by visual I don't mean photographic.

ontopic: my memory depends really on how much i drink throughout the week. usually pretty good, IQ of 148 (internet test so probobly wrong)

I Have Photographic Memory, But Also Abit Of The Textual .. Depending On The Situation.

My memory is insane. It has to be for me to be able to learn Chinese (all freakin memorizing lol) But yea, I can recall many things. Usually text and numbers more easily than vivid images, but I do have moments where I remember certain events VERY specifically.
