RaGEZONE Evolving...

Hey peeps!

I made this thread coz I and others can see ragezone is... dying.. its been the same since the birth of ragezone, its been only a forum and thats about it, I just suggested to MentaL if we should make a ragezone website, which includes game reviews, previews news and many many features, something like gamespy, yes it would take a lot of free time, but if 5 people work on the site and seperate the sections for each person it would be up-2-date within mins, this is MentaL's chance to start a bussines and evolve from ragezone forums

Please vote yes or no, RaGEZONE cant go on like this...

it cant be setup now anyways, we need to set the layout etc will take at least 2 weeks...

I think it's a silly question :P If anything it would be wise to evolve, not to stay still and of course you can never go back :P Going back would mean mir2, and that aint happening, so push toward the future I suppose.

i say evolve and spice up the stuff here,
though if it does go in the direction as gamespy, eventually we would have to get rid of all of the "Illegal" server development stuff here, which would defeat the purpose of RZ today

I would love to help out with writing reviews n stuff.... But my own site is kinda my priority at the mo but i could always find time to work on an RZ site :good:

Ragezone could easily become like IGN, I remember IGN in the oldy days... Just a website for cheat codes and a forum.

I voted yes aslong as it doesn't become another gamespy.

voted yes, tho i'm not sure if that wot's going 2 make RZ back to live =\ anyways it's a nice idea.

only thing i see in my opinion that would put RZ back to life it would b the serious hosting of a mmorpg, any kind tbh but serious not something that dies after 1week.

i said no, if ragezone gets any bigger it wont be possible to host it at all, and anyway i think all good things must come to an end, looks like this place's is nearing

Think to be honest this sums up the "normal" people on here - at end of Day its 100% down to Mental if he want to continue providing RZ or let it die. All of us would like to run a web site that makes money but when there is LOTS of sites out there that provide it for free, then its a uphill struggle to be honest.

Pop Up as said - wont work, SP2 comes with a pop up blocker and most people have one installed anyhow (such as Google bar). Its a bit like a P Server trying to ask for donations, people always quote they cannot pay (too young) or they need to see something before they pay for it.

Maybe get writing some Utils for the MMORPG's out there and sell them here, a few ideas off hand include:

Autoupdater that uses web site instead of FTP.
Log File checker with nice fancy options
ASP/PHP Pages for stats etc

Plus any others you can think of really - maybe have a section that only people who pay a sub (built into VB3 by the way) can view - so if you want better info/files then this is the way to go i think..
