[Q]about ports and ip and other

ok I got million quetions about it, because I am new in this whole thing.
1. If I don't have router, can people play on my server?
2. What do I need to do to make people able to connect my server?
(I know there is a thread about it but i tried and it doesnt working)
3. How can I connect my site to the Database, I know PHP and SQL but how can I connect it to the Database on my computer? (with ODBC or something?)
4. Is the site IP/adress connected to the server IP? does it matters if they are different?

I got more a lot of quetions but those are the most important,
but if someone has the time and wants to help me^^

(I know there is a thread about it but i tried and it doesnt working) Change the IP in Config.pk to your IP and run the Server (dont forget to open Ports)
3. How can I connect my site to the Database, I know PHP and SQL but how can I connect it to the Database on my computer? (with ODBC or something?) Look in release Section for a Register Script
4. Is the site IP/adress connected to the server IP? does it matters if they are different? It conect to the Database IP

but i ment that i have ADSL modem and not a router, so can people connect?
how can i open ports and what is it? :D

Ok I downloaded the original kalonline website scripts and I treid to run it on my site but it doesn't working. can someone please tell me how to install it?
(and answer the questions aobove^^)

ok i have some answers...
1. u WILL need a router to get peeps conected to ur server (routers are cheap so...)
2. ports are like doors in ur router... nearly all are closed if its right...they are protected by the firewall of ur computter 2 so peeps cant go in ur pc without ur premission.
when u use internet it automaticly opens the ones u need at that moment and close them again when u quit.
u will need to open 1 when u want to make it public.
u can conect to ur router by typ in ur ip adress in internet exployer and put in ur id and pass.
then u can search on internet for and full explonation
