[360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
Quote:
Guitar Hero World Tour (also known as Guitar Hero IV) is the upcoming sequel to the music video game Guitar Hero series, and will be developed by Neversoft and published by RedOctane and Activision, targeted for release in Fall 2008. The game is expected to be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and Wii consoles.
While the game will continue to feature the use of a guitar-shaped controller to mimic the playing of a real guitar to rock music, Guitar Hero World Tour will expand to also include the use of drum and vocal peripherals, much like Rock Band. Furthermore, according to Game Informer, the game will allow users to create custom songs from those shipped with the game, altering everything but the lyrics, and may also be able to upload and share other songs with other users.

All in all, I'm extremely excited. Being a big GH fan from the beginning, seeing all of these new things and evolutions makes me want to climax. Sure, most people will yelling that it's a Rock Band clone, but it is FAR from that. Heck, they've had the idea since before the companies split so technically Harmonix acted slightly faster, but these guys are about to totally perfect the essence of a band rhythm game. The drum set looks awesome, we can make our own songs, everything is customizable, and there's more songs packed in the game than with any other (Plus DLC!). I'm sorry, but that sounds amazing. As you can tell, I'm really really hyped. Your thoughts?
Re: [360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
Go figure. Activision hated the idea of Rock Band and thats why MTV Games bought Harmonix. Now just look at them copy the idea.
I will still choose Rock Band over GH4 as well... Harmonix actually does know how to make a music game unlike the creators of Tony Hawk games.
Not to mention the upcomming features of Rock Band 2 just sounds better. Why only be limited to recreating the shipping games when you can be able to add in your own songs? Thats one feature they left out of Rock Band and will be putting into Rock Band 2.
NoPeace - out
Re: [360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
You can write your own songs in this one. And it isn't a total copy. It looks way better and the idea was circulating way before the split as was said. This looks way better than Rock band, and I'd prefer it to getting a few song and having to download a ton (therefore wasting more money in the long run). The features they've added seem incredible. Also, there's no real news on a Rock Band 2, so for now this is the best band based game that's going to be out.
Re: [360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
/yawn, just more crap imo, won't be looking into it any further.
Re: [360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
The drums actually sound interesting. Playing a "guitar" in Guitar Hero doesn't come close to it, it might be fun, but you can give a person a guitar and they won't be able to play anything at all. With drums it's different, obviously there are still pretty big differences, but you will learn how to drum, the rhythm and all that, and those are some of the most important parts with drumming. Once you get a real set you would have to learn some stuff, like where to hit and how hard, but i think if you are good at drumming with it, that you will definitely have a big advantage over other new drummers.
Ofcourse Rock Band offers this aswell, but the GH drums should be better, and has 5 instead of 4.
Re: [360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
Well Maybe GH4 will be better then Rockband because rockband, the guitar/bass on expert was sooo easy. Like I can play Guitarhero I can play the guitar or bass on hard with some difficulties, but on rockband I have barely any playing on expert.
Re: [360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
I liked Guitar Hero 3 and Rock band, i'll prob get these when they come out.
Re: [360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
the site says that the drums are pressure sensitive and the harder the hit on the drums causes louder in game noise and same with lower... also there is 3 drums and 2 symbols and a bass pedal... im getting Rb in june for wii and was thinking about Gh:a but i may wait... i don't think i could handle 4 or 5 guitars (gh3=1, gh:a=1, rb=2, ghIV = 1(if les pauls are compatible (i would buy the bundle)) or 2(if les pauls are not compatible)) and 2 drums and 2 mics
i hope that i can make enough money for those 3 games rb=170 gh:a=100 and GH:IV=<200(hopefully)
but im a fan of these games so i guess i spare no expense
Re: [360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
Somehow I'm glad they'll finally adopt this idea. I've always liked the GH series than Rock Band.
Re: [360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
I just hope they stick with their current guitars. The Stratocaster sucks major balls. I am just glad that I own a GH guitar for my 360, otherwise I'd be pissed (I purchased RB + instruments a few days ago). My friends and I had our first "gig" yesterday in my living room . Playing with 4 people at once is not just fun, it is amazing.
Re: [360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
but playing all four instruments at once in not fun its incredible
Re: [360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
Ive always wanted to give the drums ago on rock band but the bundle costs a fortune - GH World tour looks good though

Sure the idea was circulating before the split. That was one of the reasons behind it. Activision thought it was a stupid idea while MTV Games loved it. So MTV bought Harmonix and they made it. Now Activision sees what a stupid mistake they made and is now trying to get back on it.
And there isn't that few songs on Rock Band. They have just as much as the GH games. Though they do offer tons to download, which is something I quite like as there is just more and more to add to the game so it doesn't get stale.
And yeah there is no real news on RB2. What I said is what I heard from one of the people that works at Harmonix.

Yeah the GH4 drums do look a lot better then the RB ones. But that what happens when you are second in the game. You see what they make and then you make it even better.
And yeah. Once you get good at the drums in the game, you will have an easy time playing real ones.
Actually the funny thing is that when you play RB on expert it's note for note. Though it requires each note to be perfect unlike real drums. So it's funny to see professional drummer cannot play their own songs on expert in RB. :icon6:

Harmonix did that on purpose. Made it easier on most difficulties so it's more approachable to the majority of people. Though when it really comes down to it, it's down to the type of songs you are playing. If you play a metal song then it's just as hard on hard/expert as it was on GH1 & 2.
Download Trasher and tell me that isn't hard on hard or expert? :1:

Yeah that's the problems with these games. So many damn controllers. Though you do know you can buy GH Aerosmith on it's own and don't have to get the controller with it. It's the same as the GH3 one but with a different face plate. Also with GH4, the GH3 controller will work but you wont get to use a new feature on it. Also I don't know about RB. The x360's GH3 controller works with it but not the PS3's (thanks to Activision demanding money for compatibility).

Each to their own. I thought the Strat sucked at first but once I played it for about 2 hours I just loved it. It just feels so much better then the GH controller. I just love how the embedded fret buttons are and now just cannot stand playing with the raised up small buttons on the GH controllers.

Bundle is cheaper then buying them separately. Though when you are looking at it. You are getting 3 games in one for the cost of $170. Which isn't bad at all since software itself would run for $180 plus the cost of the instruments. So you are looking at about $300+ in value for a game at the cost of just over half.

Re: [360/PS3/PS2/Wii] Guitar Hero World Tour
Ofcourse for me the game loses a lot of value for being quite cheap to make, compare it to the many hours that say a game like GTA 4 costed, then you pretty much get raped hard when you get Rock Band or any of the GH games.
