im guessing no one can help me? >_<
has aNYONE set up this server with 2 comps and a router ??!?
I'm only one I think only port i opened was 2106 and maybe 7777 but i dont think 7777 is needed you actuly do all your work through authd thats it odd i know :P
yeah I have a similar proplem to this one. I doubble checked all IP's in ini files and configs and db table. Still People from the outside can connect trough my comp to the server (my comp act as router with 2 network cards) I can connect to the server from the LAN using the IP adress 192.168.0.100 but when server slection screen comes up I only see [Bartz] 9999 ms. If anyone could help me who had similar problem and solved it, im very gratefull. Thanks
Why don't u get the LAN people to connect through the WAN IP port?
but there is a a file called servelist in the NewAuth/etc folder I guess you have to add two server list there one is the LAN connection and the other is the WAN connection. but why do this? when all u have to do is get both the LAN and WAN players to connect using the WANT IP. for me I still couldn't get my DDNS address to work yet . I can't pass the server boat screen.
Just saw topic, didnt wanna read the entire post (yes im working..)
If you have a router, you DO NOT need to edit anything to get LAN players on, when a LAN player goes to your router and asks for 242.212.55.XX ip, and it see's it's itself.. it simply tells the computer to go to a local IP adress instead...
(Im running this on our server, if i wanted to open a Lineage II client on the server, l2Server would report a 127.0.0.1 connecting....)
Ofcause, you just need NAT enabled on your router, which like 99% has.. So dont make it harder on yourself's people :)
I just had that problem and your partcially correct.
Some routers cannot foward a request for your own wan ip address to the correct lan ip address even with port fowarding correctly enabled. If your unsure of what I meant, heres an example.
Say your running a web server on a pc on your lan. Its ip is set to 192.168.0.10, and its strcitly just a web server. Your router is setup to foward http (port 80) request to that web server on your lan, and the wan ip address is set to 123.456.789.1. When someone goes to access your web server, they would be using the wan ip address to do so. [Outside IP -> Your ip (router) -> Web server (lan ip)
Now, you use your regular computer whos internal lan ip say is 192.168.0.2 and you want to connect to your own web server, which is on the same lan and behind the same router. You can try to do this two ways. First, just type in the web servers internal ip address and you sould get your webserver in your browser. The router fowards the request to the correct pc on your lan. [Lan PC1 -> LanPC2] However, the 2nd method I'm about to describe will not work with all routers.
If you try to access your web server using your WAN ip address, some routers will fail to foward the request to the correct pc on your lan (which sounds like the problem your having). As far as what you can do with this problem, I'm not sure if there is anything. I just encountered this problem myself with a new router I just got and it will not allow me to connect to my own servers using my WAN ip address. The manufacturer of the routers own tech support whom I spoke with said that the router will not allow such connections to be made, and there are no settings that will allow to do so. I had to revert back to my old router which did allow me to use my own WAN ip to connect to my servers. Sucks because the new router had a built in firewall, wireless 802.11g+ support, plus a built in DSL modem and 4 port switch. :chair: :burn:
