This is a release for MSPSAR, a MapleStory Private Server Automatic Restarter. I know there are many out there, but on some forums (yes this one too) I still see people asking for automatic server restarters. So guess what, this is another one -_- I hope you all enjoy it!

- This file is not malware, adware, spyware, is not a virus, a trojan, a keylogger, a dialer, and not a joke program. It's MSPSAR - clean. Using NOD32 antivirus signature version 3191. I UPDATD MY ANTIVIRUS SIGNATURE!!!! I also chose a .zip file format so all your antivirus scanners can penetrate the archive. But I also chose that format so nobody complains about WinRAR.

Usage
==========================================================
1. Download File
2. Unzip Archive
3. Scan MSPSAR
4. Execute MSPSAR
5. Set your MapleStory server name (e.g. YourStory) and CLIENT version.
6. Choose if you want it to save the operation log to seperate files. If so, choose a save directory.
7. Set if you want email notification. This is very handy sometimes if you are away on vacation or something like that. You'll get emails when the server starts up, is somehow manually closed (either you have helpers, or someone broke into your house), and when it crashes.
8. Go to Other and select the bold checkBox about running an Odin Java-based server depending on if you do.
9. Select your executable files.
10. Start Server.

Although there are many more private server automatic restarter programs out there, (as some people complained in the first page), my goal is to create a professional one.

Does it support vana?

Nice release man. :D I just tested it for my server and it works great. i auto crashed and it works :D

Ehhh, I know ur gonna be dissapointed with this answer, (SHORT ANSWER: I THINK SO) but I don't know vana. I only used titanms. The point is, this thing is like a task scheduler. It will run any executable and start it again when it's stopped (with your control of course). As long as the Vana server is an executable file, it works. And I think it will work because Vana is a titanms fork? COurse, you gotta start WampServer too, but that can be done via registry editing. You can start the ms server via registry editing too , but it wont restart when it crashes - the whole point of my program. i like fast replies wow thats nice

Well titan only has 1 exe to start and vana has 3 and needs to be in a certian order. Other then that nice program.

Vana has three separate server windows, though. When one crashed all three will have to be restarted for the server to work again so it most likely will not work for Vana.

It dosn't take that long to test a Restarter O.o

I took a look at the restarter. It is very well organized and looks like a very good piece of software. I tried it with my vanastarter.bat however, and it did not work.

Very good job on this though. I'm sure it will be helpful to many people.

WTF it opened like 15 cmd windows when I click start. What do I have to put in "Set Executable Path"? I put my maplestoryserver.exe there and it keeps opening cmd windows

In case you guys didn't know. This supports VANA. Just hook it to the channelserver because that is where all the maps,mobs, skills ect data is. The 2 other server windows don't need to be restart every time the server crashes, only the channelserver.

If the channel server crashes, when you restart it, it cannot connect to the world and login server. You have to shut off and then restart the other two when one crashes.

alrlite ppl, this might take another day or so cuz i have to go to sleep soon buttt....
for the people that said it shutdown their computer, it is NOT supposed to do anything like that. when it opens 15 cmd windows, it shouldnt do that either

OnStart()
Runs executable at the path you set it

OnStop()
Immediately kills all processes containing your filename
e.g. your path is: C:\\MSServer\\server.exe
If you have a process called mysql-ntserver.exe, then that process will be killed because it contains the filename server - i am very sorry - i should fix that..

I'm a newbie at releasing anything - never done it - and as you can see, i've just joined ragezone, although I have been looking at it for about 1 week or so already

Note: If you press start, and want to close the applications it opened, don't exit the applications it opened. Press Manual Stop - otherwise, it treats it as a crash and just spawns another one.

I'm releasing Version 1.1 soon I guess - can't leave you all dead in the water. For people with one executable only that IS an executable that closes it properly - it should work perfect. For people with batch files, I'm still working on that - I'm making it close cmd as the process instead of the filename as the process (because that only works in exes). Shortcuts -- don't even try them. But really, it shouldn't be shutting down your computer or spawning 15 cmds. It only does that to me when I debug :P. Sorry for the errors - I knew this would happen. Please be patient?

You can probably expect a release tommorrow night. I'll think about it all day tomorrow when I'm gone and when I come back, I'll fix it. I'm printing out source code (yawn...). My next post will probably be a release. I can't spam this forum with annoying comments like these xD.

Sorry to say but a simple .bat would do the job.

or if u have one, just 1.bat file

To Zapotek: You're right. A batch file would start one executable, and when the process has been ended, restart them (using start /wait i think). But you see the problem - it only allows one executable at a time. True, you could have 3 batch files running, but then it gets very confusing. I try to design my programs with a professional touch - sending e-mail notices and now docking in the system tray xD - MSPSAR can be used by any amateur private server administrator, but is also intended for server administrators that really want to go far and keep it for even a decade that go on regular global vacations.

To yoyonerd: 3 .bat files... As you may know, a batch file command's are interpreted by command prompt, cmd.exe. This means the process of ANY and EVERY batch file is cmd.exe. If you have 100 batch files running, you have 100 cmd.exe processes running. In this case, I would have to track by Process ID. So yea, it's possible (a lot of things are if you set your mind to it). I'll try to make it for OdinMS. Right now, I'm editing for Vana. I added three executable paths, but when I'm done, you canprobably put batch files too. My next release should be today. And I don't know about you, but my school is in finals week...

well i am using Vana the problem was that the bat files needed to be moved to a certain directory for them to work, all i did was place them where they needed to be then set the 3 directories for the bat files via your re-starter and it all works fine now.only thing about your re-starter is that it does not close the debug windows when the server crashes and often the net frame work 2 comes across problems maybe its just me.. But i am sure that it does not close the debug crash windows so i use Auto Macro Recorder to press okay for me when that happens so that the server will be restarted i love the prog. it is truly a life saver! is it possible for you to add more than 3 file starters? can you add like 20? or something just a thought cause i know that for more channels (with Vana) you need more bat files open just a thought thanks for this server re-starter it really is a great help to me and i am sure it is for others.

I was thinking something more along the lines of 3-5 sec delay.....
I only ever had 40 somethin ch's on vana... But i use odin and need a delay for them to work and if 1 crash's they all go down and its a endless process and leaves me with a lot of crash's....

i'd do almost ANYTHING for a working DELAY odinms restarter, or does this only work if the server crashes, cuz the only odinms crash is the java heap crash, which really crashes the whole computer, atleast for me thats wut it does, i just wish some1 could send me a restarter maybe configured to every 2-3 hours per restart, to help keep the lag down

nice but you need a way to get into the mysql database and update accounts set loggedin = '0' ; so people dont get stuck since they tend to forget to log off xP or make a notice every 2 hours of shutting down

Alrite, i'm not good AT ALL with MySQL so these questions mite just be plain weird, but.. what command would you all need? i read something about setloggedin = 0;. Is that possible in MySQL? Isn't it just all tables? If it is all tables, how could you execute setloggedin = 0; that's not a table command... iono..

if u are adding my sql commdans u will need the serverhost (hosters ip), username, password, and the schema so you can (user) edit stuff from the prog on the database you should also make it so the user can change the info of the user name host ip pw schema etc. the schema contains the tables and with my sql editing its fairly easy the commands are based off logical sentences when u get used to them u will undersand how easy it is in essence its like reading a book lol good luck!

you know the delay when the server is putting up the cmd windows how this little box appears and locks the whole screen you should take it out since some servers crash more often than others and if users are on the computer it can be annoying

It supports pretty much anything now.

alrite.. finished adding mysql database query commands. i think u can only execute one command though. when should this command be executed? i'm thinking the best time and most logical time is when the server has been automatically shutdown and the computer is resting for a period of time before auto-restarting. However, some server administrators don't give a period of time for the computer to rest...hmm.

What will the commands be used for?

o ssrry zonith - forgot to reply to you. i'll add this program closer - automatically closes any window with the text "Microsoft .NET" and "(Debug)". But the only reason why (Debug) appears, is because someone was running the server through Visual Studio debug (or some other debugger for java). If I close the Visual Studio editor, then..ok u know what, i'm prolly confusing u all. ignore this post if ur confused.

commands are mysql commands..here i'll post a development pic. wow. my pic is 970KB and max upload limit here is 976.6kb. a little close. not too much.

i dont know why you need the users to be set to 0 is that so peopel dont get stuck? if the server crahses?

To zonith: The first error will automatically close because it contains the text "Error" in its application title. The second error - sorry, it will have to be closed forcefully, maybe even ending the app, but thats ok because this is an automatic restarter right?

To Watounment: Well, some people were suggesting that the database be edited to log people out when the server is automatically shutdown - otherwise they will get stuck there or something. I'm sure you understand xD.

To Everybody: I tested the mysql query with an odinms databse - seems to work. I guess the max value for LoggedIn is 127..i tried 159 lol.

oh yeah i use auto macro recorder for the force closing of certain errors so it restarts while im afk ^^
the application it ends is your program so its not good if it closes that lol xD

when u close your prog u have to redo all the execute paths or else it wont work

that really should be working. it writes to the registry when you click Accept and Set Executable paths each value of each textbox. Try to run this script. it delete MSPSAR registry settings so it can be redone. Yea, you have to redo all the settings..

did you delete the registry entries with the run script in my last post?
if so, did you see a messagebox appear saying it was restoring reg?
did you put the MySQL dll file right next the executable? it doesnt seem to be one of the loaded assemblies.

sometimes the old versions were better..i'll post a downgrade version if there are too many errors, less features, but more secure.

to zonith: W-O-W nice tut. andd uhh, u know i'm not sure if i can make the closing debug error window thingie. i can retrieve the window, and set it to foreground, but i cant click buttons if i dont know where it is. maybe, i can try to get an error, measure the size of the window, set the location of the error window to 0,0 so its on the left upper corner of screen, and set mouse location to button location and send click command but ....o..

AND DUDE ZONITH, i'm realllllly not that good. HONESTLY. do u have any idea how many sites i scroll through for my resources...

i was wondering are you planing to do version 1.4?

like password protection is it possible to add internet activation so like if the user is away the user can just start up the servers from a different computer?
cause it can connect to the internet say the user has a website can they set the mspsar to connect to the website so the user that hosts the server can login to the website they own and make the servers connect and stuff?

say liek ur away and ur sis or somethign messes with ur comp and ur not aroudn to fix it dunno just thinking lol

lets see. i guess i'll add another option to Other. You know, the Other form is gonna be pretty big now. I might have to resize the form later. MSPSAR isnt my main focus anymore - new project. But if you all need updates, I'll provide them (unless its out of C#'s ability).

this internet activation thing - it's NOT NOT NOT gonna be using tcp/ip. it's gonna just be probing your http site for a certain document value - yes not efficient and primitve, but its working. The only problem is - do you people know how to setup a webserver? I cant forward ports for u in this program.

give me till thursday to start on this stuff while i daydream....

HEY EVERYBODY!!!!

I DID IT!! AFTER 1.5 LONG YEARS, I FINALLY SETUP A WEBSERVER WITHOUT HAMACHI OR ANY OTHER VPN CLIENT WITH A LINKSYS ROUTER!!!

k. I know some people have this problem too.
1. Turn off firewall.
2. Return to default configuration on the router, but save a backup in case.
3. Use Automatic Configuration - DHCP.
4. Make sure the ACT light is green on the modem now.
5. Ur Done.

My Error: For 1.5 years, I did every step countless times except I didn't know to set the login type to DHCP - my parents automatically set it to PPPoE.





Ok, now:

To Zonith: MSPSAS MapleStoryPrivateServerAutomaticSetup. Have you noticed how many (outdated) tutorials there are on the internet about how to setup this and that. One tutorial adds to another, some of them are plain undetailed, point is - theres just too many, and they get outdated too quickly. Anyhow, a private server setup tutorial is for doing it on the computer. My program will just automate that (no it's not magic you still have to do things, but a lot less). And best of all, my program will update its server source packages. It's not magic either - I have to upload the packages. I just have to find a site that will stay for a very long time (until my product gets outdated and people don't use it anymore) so that I can upload the new packages when they come out. I think this will be a VERY useful tool.

To lws8: It really should support OdinMS. yoynerd tells me that it doesn't fully support it - that when it closes the cmd.exe windows, it still leaves some behind, so that after a long period of time (a schoolday), you come back to find 55 cmd windows. sorry yoyonerd! I'm uploading fixes when school ends, which starts ending at June 12, 2008, 12:30:00:000 PM.
