Writing messages on money, it's ingenious.
Zack de la Rocha, former lead singer of Rage Against The Machine does the same thing. Him and the other members of RATM are big protestors for human rights, and I support this idea of writing on money. I will probably partake in this.
there is no probably pal
you either do or you dont!
I have a fiver upstairs, I'll go write on that soon ^_^
Off topic, did you get my PM?
excellent :D write something meaningful my friend! :D
i prolly did but ive been inundated with them today, ifu could re send it (ifu have it saved or if its not too large) thatd be really helpful
Keep in mind that in America writing on money is a federal offense. So by the off chance that they'd find you, you'd be doing some major jail time.
p.s. your site looks pretty tight Ex. Nice and clean.
aye i noted in the article that is is illegal, however the odd note here and there, who is going to be able to prove it? :P
How exactly can the Feds find you for writing on money? A one dollar note will pass through the hands of roughly 250million Americans.
Exy, any suggestions for what I could write?
Yeah pretty sure the only way they'd find out is if you wrote, "I hate pigs," right in front of a cop... haha
In anycase I'm going to write a little message and post it here in a bit.
I just need something to write, a little inspiration :P
Isn't this a bit scare tacticy? I mean most people know that politicians are a bunch of liars, that's part of the job really. But this is very ominous. The premise is good though, I think a better idea would be to register a website detailing the issues you feel strongly about and write that on the money. Maybe along with a message. It's a little more risky but they'd still be hard pressed to prove it was you who wrote it.
Writing on bank notes isn't illegal in the UK so we're fine, but writing on money is a good tactic. It is passed through millions of hands, seen by millions and it defaces the very item the Government and corporate moguls crave.
I write on money all the time. How is it illegal? people used to burn it.
WoW. That is like one of the best damn ideas I've heard in like ages. Wow.
"Concerning notes, the Currency and Bank Notes Act 1928 says If any
person prints, or stamps, or by any means impresses, on any bank note
any words, letters or figures, he shall, in respect of each offence,
be liable on summary conviction to a penalty not exceeding one pound.
The penalty was changed to
Would "You are not a slave" be appropriate?
i think "you are not a slave" would be good after a few weeks f these in circulation. how about, "life is not a rat race"
I guess, when I have time I'll get round to doing it ^_^
Awesome idea Exy. We have to do something!
I appeal to each and everyone on here, write a message on paper money in your language or English, take a picture of it and post it!
I've written "The government lies" in German.

^^
Done it nice idea
/Fate
Great work, I'll do mines later.
Whats writing on money going to achieve? just a waste of ink tbh
it is an anoymous way of people spreading a message amongst each other, given time it will build its own network of people who while they do not know each other on a personal level they will share a bond and a common cause
it all adds fuel to the fire and god knows every bit that helps every single individual in this god forsaken world to wake up is a step in the right direction!
each note alone will do nothing other than catch someones attention but if it helps 1 in 100,000 to take a step towards waking up it will only do good!
btw guys if you dont mind id like to put your pics up on my site :D
Hell yeah do that! The more pix we have, the more people will see that this is not a joke but a serious matter!
Too bad our notes are plastic :P
Also i'm not so sure what i should be mad at my government about... i don't think theres anything they have done/said which has really made an impact on me lately o.O
IMO writing "Your government lies" on a banknote isn't going to make much of an impact and people will probably pass it off as some asshat who was bored. It'll be a better idea to write a website on a banknote, one with a descriptive domain, like www.yourgovernmentlies.com (Or something a bit shorter). And then offer clear explanations on the site as to why you did it and why and how the government lies.
Do pies idea then write it on all your notes, make a deposit in a bank, next time ppl withdraw money. The money should get passed around quite quickly.
Nah you shouldn't worry abotu offences with money and stamping. People at local shops, business, etc number money all the time.
I've written "Your government lies to you" on a
I actually wrote "Your government doesn't tell the truth, all the time." on the 20$ Canadian.
But I spent it before I could take a picture. Didn't wanna be all negative about it, it's Canadians we're talking about.
It might look a little awkward if you visit the same store often, and all your bills appear to have writing on them. I dunno about your cashiers, but here in Canada, they always inspect the bill before they take it.
aye dont write on any bill, i think the most you should write on is every 5 notes, and even then thats for when you are far away from home
Better not to write on new bank notes either.
Don't the security codes on the new Sterling notes rub off incredibly easily?
hmm i would agree - writing a url/domain on notes would be more effective
I'm not sure writing a web URL on a bank note would be very effective, it's not every day someone finds a bank note with a random URL on it.
writing url's will seem like an advertisement and people will blow it off. sending a message will keep people thinking about it. Saying a brief statement like "The government lies" is enough to keep a person thinking about it for the next few minutes.
That's why I said they should use descriptive domain names.
I'm just saying what I would do.
I know for a fact I wouldn't visit the URL, because for one I don't look at my money while I'm at home. I look at my money when I pay for things, or when I receive it, the chances that I'll remember to look up that URL are tiny.
To be honest it's a bit of a nonissue because there's no reason you can't have a message and a URL.
I already do this once in a while in between changing the with ONE on $1 into BONER. So i get both laughs out of writing on bills and on other bills, i try to spread a message. Of course, i seriously doubt the message stays in people's heads for too long, I'm way more open to the url idea if i could find a good url to "link" to.
