Re: Rate my future purchace
Are you planning to overclock this PC to hell & back?
Immediate "problems" would be the nforce board and 8600 GTS.

This is the build that I'd like to purchase soon...If you find any problems, or have a better idea on a replacement, or recommend an extra, please, let me know
1. Cm cosmos case would probably be better but why spend so much? I suggest the antec nine hundred / twelve hundred.
2. overpriced motherboard, i recommend this
3. I recommend a Q6600 instead. Slight (if any) performance drop for half the price.
4. why would you possibly want 8gb of ram? depending on the Os you are using, you might not even be able to use half of it. Also, that is very expensive. i recommend you get 2 of these
5. that power supply is WAY overkill, i suggest you get this instead
6. compared to the rest of your system, this will slow you down when gaming. an 8800GT is what you want.
all up this will save you about $500?
Re: Rate my future purchace
thx for the heads up...Sorry, I was planning on the 8800 gt...Stupid mistake. Motherboard recommendation seems logical - changed... Changed power supply, and switched to Kingston ram...
Re: Rate my future purchace
Ghost i may be reading this wrong, but it also seems due to one of the comments on the mobo that it will not work with the yorkfield processor :winky:

Is not, even with BIOS update, compatible with Yorkfield cores- EVGA support told me that there were no plans to release an update to make it support them, either.
On a side note, is there a site like newegg, but for the uk?

I've been researching this subject alot.
Because I'm planning to get a Q9450 for my striker extreme.
Have a peek at this website : http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=3138&p=3
Re: Rate my future purchace
hmmm... I'll keep looking for motherboards with Yorksfield that are still badass

Do NOT flash above BIOS 1303. That one is the most stable one and has the best overclocking capabilities. If you flash over 15xx it WILL NOT let you downgrade, without going through all the hassle of using special switches on the flashing program from a floppy disk.
