Australia banned 18+

Well as we all know, poor aussies struggeled to get the GTA series... :chair:
they say the reason is because it might reduce violence in the country, if they dont play violent games (GTA is banned in aus)

What do you think? do you agree? disagree?

I personaly disagree, I think it should be allowed

Im laughing like a dick head, how can a virtual video game take control of your mind? some of you think playing none-stop 10 hours straight will make you do stuff that you normaly wouldnt, bullshit, they blame it on games and now they ban them... take MANHUNT for example... IT SAYS 18+ FOR FUK SAKES!!!! I see 10 year olds playing it... I ask them how they got the game they answer simple..."went with mum to buy it :D"
(MANHUNT now its banned in some places in UK)

my end line: If you cannot handle games, do not play them, if you cannot handle the realism and the virtual violence... DO NOT PLAY!, play some other game like crash bandicot, and when you commit on a crime say, crash made me do it, he hit me first with an apple...

Agreed! Ive been playing games for years and not one of them has effected me in real life. Saying that a video game made you do something is just a way of placing the blame on something else... all BS

If anything the GTA series has stopped me from killing people because when I'm playing it for most of the day it's hard to fit killing people in my schedule. People who blame killings on GTA do so because it was taken away from them and they had nothing better to do.

agree tbh, It's the same 4 a lot of things, sum1 does sumthing wrong they blame it on the games they play.

and that mother who brought her son the game Manhunt, she should have realised by the title and even the gr8 big red spot saying 18, that it wasn't suitable for her son.

I'm yet to play a game where i think the game is telling me to do something, I've play some right voilent games but it hasn't corrupted me yet. It's just another thing to blame their wrong doing on instead of blaming their lack of judgement irl, if they cant handle the game they should try another hobbie they can cope with.

i do have to agree with what the Australians are saying
video games do change who you are and how u think (some for good some for bad)
for instance the reason i started matial arts was a result of mortal combat, i wanted to be able to do all thoes insaine shit so i beged my parents to let me take karate
also video games led em to the decission to join the military, not cuz its a nobel thing to do but cuz its so much fun to shoot ppl in games

Actually my mom didn't like it or wouldn't buy it for me (in usa M rated games u usually have to show ur 18+.. or was that at wal-mart? =/), but, my dad bought it for me and himself tho :P

EDIT: not the SA of course, the previous GTA games.

round my area not long ago there was a murder where this 14 yr old kid killed hs best mate and blamed it on the game manhunt... they family tried to sue the company but they turned around and sed the game is an 18+ so he shouldnt of played it, plus the reason he killed his mate was for drugs money coz he was addicted

so in the end they just wanted to blame summit and try and get money

well im from australia and i say let GTA be lol and even if it is banned wheres still other ways of getting it if ya know what i mean

parents need to look at the game and think 'Is my child mature enough to handle this?' if not then DONT FUCKING GIVE THEM THE FUCKING GAME!! If the answer is yes then good for you and your kid, as your obviously mature sensible individuals. In short, more should be done to stop kids getting ahold of games by retailers and parents turning a blind eye.

Me too.. Heck.. I played Silent Hill 1&2&3 and I dont piss my pants every night cuss it is 18+ (Gotta admit... silent hill 1 is kinda scary and so is silent hill 3.. but heck.. when I tried Silent hill 2 it wasn't that bad.. I had a shotgun a pistol and all the weapons that would protect me from those freaked monsters...) Besides.. im 16.. I shouldn't be afraid of those kind of games :P

parents need to be made more aware of the contents of the game as in situations of video parents are ask to view the film before letting their kids watch it. Children are irresponsible thats how children are if people are so careless and let there kids play sick and demented games such as manhunt of course a kid is gonna think would cool i wanna try this out same as wrestling kids try that shit out everyday only in america can u sue anyone for anything well anyways BLAME THE PARENTS! NOT THE GAME!

asked somone from there yesterday he said it's all around and his friend had bought it. So I guess banned in certain places only.

Its not banned here.... I got it the first day it came out anyways, completed it in like 3 days :wolfwood:
