California!

So as some of you might know, I've been away taking exams and trying to spend the last days with my friends before I move to USA... Everything is going great and I sent an application form to SBCC (Santa Barbara City College) which will most likely be accepted, since my parents have already contacted them. I'm also thinking of getting in their Soccer's team and I've been training hard these last weeks.

I'm moving in 10th August and I'm anxious to know what it's like to live there... I'll be there all by myself, all my family will be staying here in Portugal and I'm just hoping I make fast and good friendships! Anyway, does anyone here live in California or any other state? What can I expect?

ohhh really? I have a lot of family friends over there, they all have healthcare.

Government won't pay for it though.

I live in New Jersey. On the complete diffrent side of the country. And I play for the NewJersey state youth team, The Jersey Knights.

California is nice when you just visit it in my opinion. Studying there can be fun too I guess (If your 21 if not you cant even do anything fun in the states).
Don't expect to go there to score chicks. You need to know that over 65% of the population is obese. And when there is a hot girl (Speaking 1/15 maybe more) she is surrounded by a lot of ugly men trying to court her.
As for health care even if you have health care it doesn't mean they will treat you. It is common that European citizens come back to Europe to get treated because even with the so called health care offered there they still need to pay a lot or even get tricked out of it (Watch Sicko as documentary on health care you will understand). What you should do is buy insurance in Portugal get insured while your here for the time you are not here. At least you can be sure you can get treated. There are special offers for when you visit the us.

Anywase I don't think your leaving Portugal for the girls there are some got ones in Portugal when they shave.

Off Topic -Well I live in Connecticut and I was wondering if anyone else finds Connecticut as boring as I do - I'd rather live some where else :S.

California - The little shows you see of all the buff guys and nice girls on the beach are fake and staged. What you really see are fat, hairy men, with a balding head, and ugly girls that carry AIDs/STDs. The only hot girls you will probably find are jail bait. California also allows gay marriage, so if you decide to get drunk, don't get drunk with men because you'll be married in the next five minutes. Expect loads of graffiti and hundreds of mexicans(illegal aliens, perhaps) wondering around, looking for jobs and driving pick-up trucks filled with gardening tools. Expect black and mexican gangsters wondering around, up to to no good. You will probably be robbed too. If you will live in a dorm in the college, you might be safe, but people might bust in if you are sleeping naked, video tape it, and post it all over RaGEZONE. If you will live in a house, make sure the windows have metal bars around it, or you have a good robbery detector because if you don't, you be robbed. If you will live in a hotel, you may be safe. It depends if it is a ghetto one or not. If you will live in an apartment, expect to be robbed, and expect it too look like shit. No matter what.

i live in cali. expect a ton of traffic. but out schools are really well organized and i think youll like it =]

Rigged, but does all that apply to Santa Barbara as well? It looks quite peaceful from what I've heard from other people... For the first semestre I'm going to live with a family and another foreign student, I'll see how that goes and then decide if I'm staying with them or live with other students.

As for the girls, I'll be studying in SBCC which has over 17,000 students... And many of them are also foreigners, so I'm hoping that won't be a problem :P

I just came back from a week at the beach with my friends, found out I'll have to go on July 31st... And also got a letter saying I was accepted :D
