Got text messaging back, but...
I got text messaging back on my phone, but unfortunately, Verizon doesn't have true unlimited text messaging to anyone on any network. Only unlimited in-network text messaging... which really sucks.
Other providers have unlimited text messaging for $10 or so as I understand, but for Verizon $10 gets you 500 out of network texts, and unlimited in-network.
Comments?

Re: Got text messaging back, but...
Well, it seems pretty unfair. I mean, isn't that the whole point of getting unlimited texts?

Re: Got text messaging back, but...
any1 who sends more than 500 texts a month or 16 a day needs their head feeling and their phone taken away and replaced with human conversation :P

Re: Got text messaging back, but...
Yeah. I like text messaging, though. Sent 12 tonight so far, received 13.
And yeah, I don't like their claiming of it being unlimited, when its only unlimited in-network.

Re: Got text messaging back, but...
Get a new provider?
I don't think anyone actually text that much. You're better off getting phones that has AIM built in or something.

Mine has AIM, but they charge you for each message as if it were a text message. My understanding was that many providers either charge you for it as a text message, or as data?

Only 500? That's a week ;) I've got 3000 in the network from my provider but all my friends got the same so it doesn't matter really. Usually I send between 1-2k a month but sometimes it goes up to 2,5k :D
Agreed with bitblaster that if they say "unlimited" it should be unlimited, some people actually send lots of texts and then 500 isn't "unlimited.

Well install a 3rd party IM and only pay for the data transfer? :) Like WAP. What phone do you got? Most phones supporting Java can have 3rd party IM. Problem is it's easier to text then "chatting" with lots of different people.

Re: Got text messaging back, but...
I pay an extra $5 for unlimited WAP access
-

Re: Got text messaging back, but...
I have a o2 deal where i spend
-
Re: Got text messaging back, but...
at least you dont get a 400 dollers bill
Plan is to get unlimited calls and text messages for 99 dollers or something close to that
and i got charged 280 dollers for sending 400's messages and recieving 900's messages
[barley any incoming and outgoing calls]
so i called and complained and they said that the plan works only for 1 month, then the rest we get charged for messages and calling... so i told them fuck you and canceled the plan... fucking www.rogers.ca are bunsh of scamming ass holes

Re: Got text messaging back, but...
o2 gave me 12000 free any network texts this month.
:)
ive only used 2000 =/
and most of those are texts saying "spam" to the same number.

Re: Got text messaging back, but...

-
Re: Got text messaging back, but...
i would go on that,

Re: Got text messaging back, but...
what verizon plan has unlimited to any network? :S
Anyway... I can't install any java apps on my phone. No WAP, either.
I had a Motorola RAZR on Verizon (CDMA), and it broke. Now I have a Samsung phone, cheap one... no WAP or "Get it now" on it. I dunno...

Re: Got text messaging back, but...
I agree with Exy there, 500 a month is already excessive use. Personally I don't even like typing text messages, but do it where it's the most convenient form of communication. 50-200 texts a month probably.

Re: Got text messaging back, but...
I have unlimited texting with Verizon on my family plan. They can be used in or out of the network and also count towards the mobile IM messages (AIM, MSN, and Yahoo). No data usage is charged for using mobile IM clients.

The plan in the middle, the select plan, offers

Re: Got text messaging back, but...
HaHa thanks!!!
And.. um... I'm in the united states, so I've never really seen or heard of o2. I know of vodaphone, though.. but I don't believe they have service in the united states?
