Only gullible fools believe what they hear in these movies.
I take it you three won't be watching it, then? I only watch such movies if I find interest in the topics they talk about. The first Zeitgeist movie caught my attention with the 9/11 sections.
I personally like Zeitgeist. I think people make these videos for a reason and despite weather or not you agree with it, you must admit quite a bit of work/effort goes into it. Its just some people are mindless sheep anyways and choose to ignore the obvious. A lot of what Zeitgeist says is true if you'd just read a book or two.
What you don't seem to realise is that the whole "Christianity is a copy cat religion" theory is nothing new. It first came about in the 19th century, and has since been utterly rejected and destroyed by almost all modern historians, anthropologists and theologians. All Zeitgeist did is resurrect it and pretend like it's some revolutionary new idea when in fact it's just a dated and bogus theory that has already been utterly discredited, and remains unaccepted by the vast majority of scholars. Yet people like you still swallow it because you heard it on Google video.
actually when Constantine made a very sound choice of making Christianity the main Religion in the roman empire lots of dates and rites were merged with sun worship.
you see he had a very large empire and not enough troops to readily police it all so to keep civil unrest away he recognised that in all areas he had christian followers, so to keep them happy he made christianity the number 1 religion. in doing so he kept all the pagan followers happy by keeping plenty of their existing traditions and dates in place. Images, places of worship and dates were all merged to keep Rome together.
the interesting thing with the pagan sun worshipers is that when you look around the world at many different indiginous tribes or even ancient civilizations sumeria for example they also share many many similarities from names and dates to images and rites of passage
Now take my semen in your mouth like horus did.
Constantine made Christianity the state religion because he was an avid Christian. He certainly wouldn't have polluted his religion with pagan ideals, in fact he had all their privileges removed and legislated specifically against them. His successors continued this tradition, having pagan cultists executed and their temples destroyed.
Christianity had already spread throughout Rome, and Constantine, a devout Christian, would not have bastardized it for the sake of appeasing the remaining pagan heretics.
Again, this idea of Christianity being a copycat religion was discredited decades ago, and practically no one supports it now.
constantine was an active and avid sun worshiper, of course after the change he had to appear to be christian, he would have been a fool not to
with changed dates such as december 25th as christs birthday, it is widely agreed upon that this was not the birth date of jesus christ (assuming of course he did exist) and holidays such as easter all coincide with pagan holidays and celebrations. the rabbit in easter being a sign of fertility and new life.
the easter bunny gladstone does not represent jesus coming back to life after 3 days of being dead, meanwhile appearing as a ghost to fuck with the heads of his followers, its a pagan symbol and shock horror not christian, the 2 celebrations were merged together to help ease the change of religion in
do you really think an open and devout christian would make it to be emperor of rome? please do read more than your school history textbooks
plent of truth is "discredited", read around enough and educate yourself to form your own unbiased opinion after checking all sides of the argument
Wow.... On topic, Ill watch it. Thanks for the heads up!
This isn't why Constaintine converted at all. At the time, he believed Christ to be a war God, one among the pagan gods, and that to worship him would be to ensure victory. He did not fully understand the Christian faith until much later, when he can be seen to have utterly rejected paganism. By the time of his death, and when he made Christianity the state religion, he was a fully fledged Christian. There is no doubt.
I don't think anyone is denying Christian holidays have their roots in pagan festivals, but saying Christianity was totally invented out of the same stuff as Paganism it totally ridiculous. When you get such large scale conversion, some people are going to continue practicing certain rituals. What this does not mean is that the Christian faith is nothing more than a carbon copy of previous religions.Quote:

He converted. Duh.Quote:

Yeah, don't patronise me. I am a Medieval and Early Modern history student. So I may not be a theologian or an anthropologist, and I may not even study Constantine in any great depth... But don't you even imply that I am uneducated.Quote:

Wow Exy and Glad...I respect both of your knowledge on a variety of topics, read a lot of your posts in the past...but you two definitely need to go on a bit of a cooldown, from one thread to the next constantly arguing over new topics. Even though arguing is good, you two seem to do it just to spite one another now, and are running around in circles.
I saw the first Zeitgeist, but yeah...nothing will ever give you the "truth"...and all information is biased and edited one way or another. It's up to you to filter it out and believe what you want, or reject the whole idea all together. Gladstone...your very first comment shows that you'll reject anything other than what you know.
All books were written by people, all media is created by people...so how can you discredit one, and not the next?
There is no absolute truth. From the books you read, the documentaries you watch, it's given by others. Does that mean you shouldn't believe anyone? No, it just means don't believe EVERYTHING one says to you.
Some of the ideas of Zeitgeist go too far, yes, but that doesn't mean that the whole thing is BS. A lot of the things are actually true. Of course, again, the truth depends on where your sources are. =/
hmm i think Zeitgeist is awesome an should be shown in schools/public sittings so people can get to learning about these topics an search truth..i dont see ideas of Zeitgeist going too far..hmm well maybe to older generations/closed minds
I wouldn't supoort that at all.
Videos with such controversial matters shouldn't be presented to kids in a compulsory education system. Like in America they've been showing An Inconvenient Truth to people in science, maths and art classes, passing it off as 100% complete truth.
It seems people are making the 'Line' thinner by the day, what with scare tactics being used on kids so they can be brainwashed into thinking it is complete truth.
Propaganda = lame, basically. Especially when it involves 10 year olds, who can't even understand 90% of what's being said on the video apart from "world ending, destruction, death, dying, dead, floods, blame, your fault, etc".
hahahahaha well i have should of said something about grade school/middle school but i asumed that we all shared the common scence of not to include the Out - e-lessons .... Propaganda is lame but there is several kinds of propaganda...people need to understand whats going on..an point out things an learn an have a choice on conclusions that are shown to them.. an thats what (i think) Zeitgeist msg is
but hey i could be wrong
I really couldn't understand that. I think you said I have no common 'scence'? And something about out e-lessons whatever the fek they are.
Anywho, Dictionary, have a read, then get back to me ;)
The day Zeitgeist - The Movie/Addendum becomes a reliable source of knowledge, Habbo Hotel will win Game of the Year.
It wasn't a typo, it was simply you lacking the required intelligence to spell the word correctly. A typo is, for example: My nmae is Kyle.
