webhosting
so i just bought a domain at godaddy and Thats it. i would like to host my website off my computer but i dont know how to point my domain to my webserver at home,
Basically right now if you were to go to my webserver you could only do it through ip address and not my domain name. So how do i link those two together so when i want to go to my website I can just type in my domain name.
Any question just ask ill try to answer them

Re: webhosting
first point your domain to their server
then go to your domain main CP page, click on "Total DNS"
you should see @ host or something, as long as it the first option that has IP configured. change that IP to your webserver/computer IP and wait for it to propagate.

Re: webhosting
first point your domain to their server? so right now im using xammp and a backend for my website how would i go about this?
So in my total dns it has the following;
Host: @ (which is my domain) points to: my ip adress
So i believe that part is correct but i dont know how to do the first part you talked about
Here is a picture of what it looks like

Re: webhosting
I think you have to use the "http://IP-ADRESS/" for it to work, and it may take some time before it's updated.

Re: webhosting
yeah change @: IP to your IP

SO i decided since you cant change the ip of host A you could just make a new one so I made a test host with my ip

My A (Host) is currently

Re: webhosting
make sure your webserver is 100% running
try to connect to your web using your IP, see if it works
also you have to wait at least 24 hours maybe for the domain to propagate your changes.
