Hi, I need help with my Linux connection. I think my server can't connect to database what is in Windows. I'm using Static IP all say what is the problem, but I think it's possible to do and with Static IP. Maybe if I using static IP I need to write other IP's etc.? And I can't run PuTTY and WinSCP, maybe someone have static IP and allready configured it? I someone havr please write here how to configure it. Thx!
You use the linux LAN ip not the external one (static)
I use Linux IP in files.
My linux machine has an IP of 192.168.0.18 and i just use that in winscp, no special config needed. The only thing i can think of is that you aren't connecting to the right ip or you set up your vmware bridged network wrong.
If you open a command prompt and type "ping <linux machine name>" does that respond or does it time out?
I can't settup Internet in Linux with Bridge because I have Static IP, so I use NAT and DHCP with it Internet working. When I check my Linux IP in Terminal with ifconfig command and IP is 192.168.5.1, so I write it in WinSCP, write root and root pass, and when select SCP protocol and Connect and after about 10 sec. I get error "Network error: Timed Out.". So what to do? Thx!
Sometimes dns resolution (what turns names into ip addresses) can be funny through vmware but it doesn't always mean there is no connection. If i try google on mine i can't get there but if i do it by ip i can and an ip connection is all you need for the linux machine. As a test try setting it back to bridged, start it and try winscp.
