[PHP/HTML]Tha Mob - Crime game [beta]

Ladies and Gentleman, we have a host with domain !

I've been working on a little crime-based game (there's so much of em, but w/e).

It's called 'Tha Mob'.
I've made the layout in Photoshop. *UPDATED*
Aye, hear me now: No complaints about tables, pl0x.

There's an admin panel (not open to public), smooth jail & other very nice features.

You can:

• Steal Cash
• Steal Cars
• Buy Items (weapons, protection)
• Better weapon/more AP -> more damage when..
• ATTACK(ing) other players!
• Ranking system where you can choose what to rank on.
• Buy protective gear (armor) to receive less damage.
• (MANY) MORE!!

There is:

• Cash
• Health
• AP
• Bullets
• Weapons
• More gear
• (MANY) MORE!!

TIP! Whores are the best for cash!

It works fine for me..
Make sure you accept JS & Cookies etc.
And FireFox = t3h best to use.

P.S:
At ~10.00 PM GMT + 1 (Amsterdam) the website will be off

well,, it works, but in a wierd way ,, you should make it so that all of the other pages are unavailable when your in jail

and I'm using FireFox 3 BETA 3 :P

Ok, I'll make that.

But if you're in jail now, you just go to Status and wait for the countdown to be 0 =)

EDIT:

Whenever you try do do:

• Steal cash..
• Steal cars..
• Item shop..
• Attack..
• Hospital..

..while in jail, you'll get a popup and when you click it you are redirected to status.php!
UPCOMING:
A gym where you can get your attacking damage and health up.

I've been working on it for 2 days now, third today. Haven't done enough to say i did anything today, just some very minor stuff.

• Train AP in the Gym

Currently working on (improving) the 'public' jail.
But showing more people in jail -> harder for JS.

Also, you should use a webhost instead of your pc.
Less lag (if your pc is laggy)
and its 24/7....

I've been working on families ! (progress table isnt updated yet).
You can:

• Join Family
• Leave Family
• Create Family
• View Family
• View other Families
• MORE FEATURES!

It's not 100% done yet, but the start is there for sure.

Looks good elite, although the doing skills could be done better, (when you training etc, your stuck on a page with no timer or anything?)

Maybe redirect to the homepage or something and have a constant timer to display how long is left before you can do another time consuming event.

Also possibly center the site, as it sitting on the left i feel leaves alot of blank space to the right.

Status -> Jail, Crime, Gym, Whores.
There are nearly perfect JS countdown, it gets the current time(time1), and the time that was set when you stole/etc(time2), and gets the time how long you need to wait(time3).

It counts (time2 + time3) - time1.
It gives that to JS and that will smoothly count it down.

And the site is centered..
Do you use IE ?
FireFox is the best to use!

Install IE and test it out in IE aswell :P. IE is used by about 80%, so it's best to get it displayed right in IE. I always put a message at the bottom saying it's best to view the site in mozilla or opera ;).

I've fixed it for IE now. Have Fun!

Its always best when creating a site to make sure it displays almost the exact same in all browsers, hey it adds a little extra work load, but it pays off in the end.

Hey man, I saw the game. It looks good!

One thing I noticed is that the max number of whores isn't filtering out the new whores you buy.. I just bought 20,000 more whores on that asd account. And now there's over 40,000 whores lol so you need to fix that

I dunno the varriables you use, but try something like this:

Easiest way I can explain it in a code it when I was using timestamps to update user accounts in a game code I was writing, by using arrays to store timestamps.

The user row was "times" and held a value like "123456,234567,345678"

Was then called something like:

Note I just wrote the above function, not the one i actually used (Don't have it anymore as i scrapped the project) so it possibly don't work, but providing a working script wasn't my point, trying to explain how they can be used was

There has to be a way that you can put all the whore's into an array to save the script loading 28 rows instead of 1.

Hope this post at least helps you out a little. If you want me to help you understand it more, give me a shout through PM, but I can't say how long a reply would take should you take up the offer (No internet at home, only have access when visitting family, which is not as bad as it sounds, amazing how much work i get done locally without having the internet connection distracting me :laugh_1:

He however isnt loading 28 rows, he has 28 columns... not sure where you were reading 28 rows from?

Although fook3d has a point, you could store alot of date relevant to eachother in one column, seperated by a comma, semi-colon etc, and then form an array out of the data returned from that column.

Doing that sounds good, but I guess I'm too far in this to change it all, unless I do alot of work, e.g almost redoing 50% of the game.

P.S:
If you're in jail and go to e.x the Steal Cash page, you won't get a popup, but get a nice handydandy countdown in big letters so you can follow it =)

Depending on if your looking at "structure" or "browse" in phpMyAdmin, they are both the same.

As he states that they are in the "users" table, my guess is that its 28 new rows (By looking at structure) or 28 columns (By looking at browse)

Fair comment fook3d, i did not realise this as i do not use phpMyAdmin on a regular basis.

Elite, if i could, i would suggest that you do something about the premium (*) next to the item shop, it seems out of place on the right as it throws out the alignment of the menu text.

May i suggest maybe creating a 'Premium' header, and then include all of the premium items below this, therefore saving the hassle of having that little yellow star, and people can clearly tell this is the premium zone?

(Unless i'm mistaken and the start doesn't mean premium, but just means it's a new thing, in which case forget the header, but still take note on what i said about the alignment.)

Tha Mob now uses an iFrame !
This gives a faster game, and less complicated !
I've been researching other Crime games and they all used frames.

@above:
The * at the Shop is away.
If you're not premium, a link under the menu header 'Main' will go to the premium info.

Hmm and there was me thinking Iframes were frowned apon.

Your call i suppose although.

Edit: Ok if your going to stick with the frames, then it definetly needs to be fixed up, currently it looks a shamble mate currently.

And as you say it does seem to speed things up alot.

I think they are more efficient.

Yeah, works now...partly. I can't register, keeps saying my name is too short...and I really dislike the refresh after the error is given.

Also, re-typing the password is a good idea...and the email address if that's important.

Yeah, I had registration problems too.. Tried once, no error. Then I tried to sign-in and my account didn't exist :l.. Afer that I checked my email.. Nothing. Then I signed in as asd and tested out some things.

I noticed that any link to Premium, opens up the entire page within the iframe. So the links and everything on the whole page are displayed twice.. >.<

Also, Paypal had an error when I clicked the paypal button.

Your top priority should be selling. So you really need to come back from vacation and fix all of these things if you ever want to make money. I know your mistakes are very small *forgotten* things, but they are important little things too. A huge difference can be made by making minor changes. Remember that ;)

I also realize that you've just started, paypal probly isn't setup yet, and you have to update more links since you added the iframe. So I'm not sweating you too much! Just some minor fixes need to be done.

Good game, it's pretty simple, but I can dig the simplicity!

yeah, and if you're in jail, and you go to the crime pages (or whore page), it says that you have to wait before you can do another crime, not that you're in jail,,

Can you show me the relevant code? strlen() works right, I'm sure of that, tested so deep and often by the developers.

I always use Perl-regex anyways, checks for multiple things at once ;)

Imo you should have 2 webboxes - one with the live product for others to use - with limited ammount of bugs and another box for development - we do this at work and i think its the way to go

also i wouldnt offer premium until its virtually finished and bugless

Its a great website its sort of like themafiaboss.com but i think mafiaboss is better. but i give it 9/10 very good job

Mobs are nutorious for pumping drugs in and out of different countries in the world. Maybe put a new function that allows users to buy and sell drugs. That's how the real mafias make their funds! Lol..

In reality, the biggest way mafias get cash is through the drug trade!

To many iframes :/ - i get a exceeded url redirection loop on firefox when i enter the site but it works ok on ie

It looks pretty nice, but it has quite a few markup errors, you should focus on fixing them.

yeah,, I also get that error :S

if you want to use frames to hide urls - just use apache mod rewrite to create your own links

He wants frames to lower the serverload, but you could just aswell use AJAX...(less load then IFrames).

A word of advice to Elitegm, if you want to pass multiple variables in an url through a link or form, use '&amp'; instead '&', else you'll get markup errors.
