Staircase one is nice, though the others contain some unnecessary elements, such as people, landscapes, debris, etc. You should pay more attention to what you're actually photographing and its environment.
With the stairs, I like the perspective you've taken a fair bit, it'd would be even better if you could possibly have messed around about with (what I'm guessing is) artificial lighting, controlling the shadows.
Also try experimenting with different orientations when handling the camera, that can always give a kick to a photo ;)
Trying looking up things such as the rule of thirds and framing too, and you should be able to produce some pretty decent stuff :)

lol, HDR is a photography tecnique =P, i took those pics with a Canon PowerShot A540, yes, a cheap one.

it looks like your either over exposing the photos, or just over editing them unnecessarily.

HDR isnt an effect, and they dont. HDR are 3 images in 1
