My PC has a ghost?

On Saturday night, when I felt like going to bed, I turned my computer off. Yes, I turned it OFF, not standby or anything else. I closed down Firefox, which had two tabs open, and a couple of other things that I had open (an Xfire conversation and Diablo II running in a window).

Woke up Sunday morning and went straight down to my friend's bar to start working and slept over at his house. Today I got up and worked at the bar for a few hours, but I just got home and for some reason my PC was turned on, with the exact same things open that I had closed on Saturday. Obviously I wasn't actually in a game of Diablo II any more, but I was viewing the list of open ones.

My dad leaves the house at 6am, and my mum leaves at 10am. She didn't see that it was turned on, which means my dad can't have done it. Is there any explanation for this, lol?

This is strange because my PC downstairs did the same.

I was signed in to my MSN and that was it. I turned off my computer (which by the way, has a passworded user login) and i watched it turn it self off. I went to bed, and this morning i was told i left the computer on :| i was like wth? Then i was told my sister was speaking to my MSN contacts. But like ... wth? I turned it off, i sat there and watched it turn itself off.

Its strange.

It is strange - my PC has two user accounts - mine, my dad's (in case he needs to use my printer while I am out because ink is cheaper for mine).

Both have passwords - I know my dad's but he doesn't know mine.

Aye, this is caused by some sort of virus which is installed without the user's knowledge after starting up a habbo server called Zer0 Server.
You should scan your PC for virus as soon as possible, AVG is a good option.

I crept into your house, booted it up, clicked the 'most recent tabs closed' option, and opened the last two, took an apple from the fruit bowl, and crept out. :ninja:

My computer does the same.. akwardly.. It's only ever happened with Vista for me.

I turn it off, I mean everything, My music, my internet, WoW, and I shut it off, I look down and the Teal light goes off to tell me it's off.

I go to sleep at my friends house, [I lock my door, because my door has a lock on it :D]

I come home the next day, I hear music playing from my room, I'm like "Wtf.." so I open the door and everything's opened, and I'm laying dead in WoW.

That's the first time it's happened, now it only happens with sleep.

I'll put my computer into sleep, [You have to tap keys to turn it on]

I turn my speakers, and my screen off, and I come back 2 minutes later, and my computers on..

EDIT: My door was still locked when I came home, and I have the only key, and it's not the traditional bottom lock, where you can slide a credit card into it and open it, I has a lock like the top lock of your door, it cannot be opened, and you cannot open it with a coat hanger.

Next time bash it with a hammer when turning it off, I'm sure it wont turn on ever again.

HP Pavillion Warranty doesn't cover hammer damages to the computer.

What would I say? "I dropped a hammer on it 20 times by accident..."

I don't have viruses, the only time when I go onto the internet is to connect to WoW Private Servers. My account is password locked, and I have Kaspersky which has been faithful to me for like 2 years now.

All of my porn is downloaded.. ftw..

Last time I checked the topic creator was Rob.
And actully, its pretty easy to remote admin someone on your own network, who has the same user account password as you.
If your on a router, maybe someone connected to you.
Or if your on a wireless router, someone cracked your WEP key ;]

We live in a neighbourhood of about 6 people.

We live on an achorage, 4 acres of land.

Everybody here has wireless, and the only kids here are 18+, and the adults all work heavy shifts.

Nobody hacked into us, and we're too far from the city to be giving off wireless, The tower is directly by us.

My brothers computer did this once aswell, but not the family computer.

Family PC = XP
Mine and my Brothers = Vista

Remember Vista is bugged, This is what happens for some reason, really weird.

-You press sleep button on keyboard-

-Screen flashes red, almost as it was having a seizure-

-Screen turns off, Computer turns off-

-You try to press power button to turn it back on-

-Nothing works-

-Turn off the power switch from the bar-

-Still nothing works-

-Unplug the cord from back of comp-

-Comp turns on-

-Your desktop loads as if the computer had never turned off-

Has happened to me more than once, the Sleep Button is right next to the A/Z key.

Correct Mr. wounded.

IM RIGHT ON IT!!

The same thing happend to me, so i tried to know why, then i turned off in a night and i knew that the PCI cards can turn on your comp, i forget to disable that lol.
Just moving the mouse the comp can turn on wtf

This may happen if you use the keyboard (ie. a "shutdown button") or the power button on your case. If you use those 2 methods, it is possible for it to just reboot/sleep/hibernate instead.

Start > turn off computer > Shutdown.

Works every time

You should call the ghostbusters to solve your problem or a priest to exorcice your computer!
