[HELP] Problem with PS3

Well I got the PS3 a few days ago and the wireless connection kept dropping during gameplay. So I plugged my PS3 in directly to the router via Ethernet cable. Right as I tried to connect, my Internet went down. All cables are connected to my router and modem but the router is not connecting to the Internet. It's very strange. By the way, I have the Linkysys WRT54G router, which apparently has many issues with the PS3. What should I do? Is it a problem with the PS3 or router?

Btw I am not at my house and will not get back for another week.

It is probably your router, or you haven't fixed your internet connection settings. Have you changed your internet settings from Wireless to Ethernet via the Internet Settings under the System Settings menu?

Yes I did. And the only problem isn't that it won't connect, it's that the PS3 screwed my Internet connection. =\

I disconnect often and it takes forever to download my 'game data' from CoD4 Online.

I get the same too. It might be just your signal strength with the wireless. I am really stumped with the ethernet cable problem, have you got it in the right port? There's two identical ports for the cable.

Uh well my router has 4 ethernet ports and 2 of them were in use at the time.

yeah like everyone said, you can get routers cheap these days, i got a ps3 had an old router, had to get a new one to play online =]

Ok what routers do you guys have that work with your PS3's?

I have a TRENDnet router. The model I have is crap, but it will allow you to play the PS3 online. Buy a decent model with a good wireless range and you're cooking with gas.

I'd say you can be certain that with a linksys router you will be completely fine.

I have to agree with Gohan, out of the many different types of routers i've used, linksys has been the most reliable

I was looking at the Linksys RangePlus Enhanced Wireless-MIMO Router with 4-Port Ethernet Switch which is a wireless-g router and the model is WRT100. I think it should work fine. ;]

Flash the router to DD-WRT. I'm using a WRT54GS with DD-WRT hoocked up to an ADSL2MUE, its perfect for everything I've tried to do.

Net gear router, um.... i think its called dg834g V3, yeah thats it
