Why I Don't Believe in God(s)
Today at 1:00pm CST my baby niece was taken off of life support. She was born 4 months early, and after spending the only month of her life in a hospital, she was taken off her o2 supply. I don't understand how anyone can say it is God(s)'s plan that you bring someone into this world, and not give them a chance to survive.
I know that they call it "faith" but what they should call it is "stupidity." It does not make any sense to me on how or why this world needs to have a baby come in, just to die a short time later. Yes, she has brought joy into our hearts, but now that joy has been ripped from us, and the only thing left is the scarred remains of a memory.
I wrote this poem for Zoey as I really do hope she is in a better place
The light shines bright upon your eyes
A gaze of wonder, a smile for me
I weep for you, you laugh for me
A gentle breeze, is all i need
To know that you are laughing for me
The world cries tonight, but you smile for it
Smile upon the world, light it with your glee
For tonight, I know you will smile for me ....
R.I.P my beloved niece Zoey, I love you.

Re: Why I Don't Believe in God(s)
God doesn't bring life. He just creates the system. People bring life and decide whether to do with it.

Re: Why I Don't Believe in God(s)
Screw creationism and all its irrationalities.
Sorry to hear about your niece.

Re: Why I Don't Believe in God(s)
sorry about you niece but its just the way of life, those who live must die. Think about it this way the pain and suffering the child had being going threw, i really don't think that the parents wanted the child to suffer and longer and so.....

Re: Why I Don't Believe in God(s)
God did not create people, people created god.
We survive perfectly fine without this "god" but can it survive without us? No. With nobody to believe in it it ceases to exist because it has no physical presence.
Not everything happens for a reason and not everything is fair. But you DO learn from everything; no matter how small, insignificant, or devastating it might be.
However look at it this way ; It may have been destined to failure and killing it was the best way to protect it and everyone else. 4 months premature, do you have any idea how high the chance of complications is? Extremely high, not just as a baby but even as far as the first 10 years of it's life.
Maybe it would have had brain damage? Maybe the family could not afford to get it the proper help it needed? Maybe if the baby had stayed in the womb the mother would have died giving birth to it? Maybe it would have been handicapped for the rest of its life? Maybe going through this was meant to make the parents more determined to try again for another child?
I am not saying these things are caused by something - but when you look at the possibilities of what COULD have happened in this scenario, perhaps it was the best overall.

Re: Why I Don't Believe in God(s)
I appreciate the comments guys. I just feel a bit lost right now, and yeah I'm glad she isn't suffering anymore, and maybe I am being selfish, and not thinking about the pain she was suffering. I guess I'm just human, lol.

Re: Why I Don't Believe in God(s)
I'm sure everyone would feel the way you do now, Junkee, if faced with that. It reminds me when I was young. I had pneumonia, and so did this other boy who was in the same room as me. The worst part is, even though it's not bad for me, is that he didnt make it. The doctor told my mom I had just held in long enough.
Passing away is always a sad thing, but it's just something that has to happen for life to go on. I'm terribly sorry to hear about your niece -- I'm sure even for a month year old, she was still amazing.

it dont fkin matter, my brother came out really premature (hes now 20) and aboit 3-4 months early he survived, However he is blind :s..
It just goes to show what a shitty world it is killing off litle inicent babies (god i mean) and if there was a god then there wouldnt be any fkin disasters lol..
Also you think that all the disasters happen by "chance" half of them are done by the government to kill off people because theres too many people on the planet
Overall. Sorry to hear it m8, I dont know what u will be going through :(

Re: Why I Don't Believe in God(s)
I am a Christ (don't know if it is the right word, it is christen in Dutch), but I don't think God exists or have existed.
I think they use God to clarify things which we can't really clarify properly.
Sorry to hear about your niece, I wish you and your family all the best.

Re: Why I Don't Believe in God(s)
Ah i feel sorry for you dude. But yeah i also dont belive in religion......
I think we all have our own reasons.

Re: Why I Don't Believe in God(s)
The meaning of the word "God" and "Religion" is something we get to know through our cultures.
I, for once, agree with Rish in part of his post and with Alphabeat.
Humans can't live without answers. Half of the questions that we had on our mind were answered by the religious, through the word "God".
Back on the earlier centuries of the "After Christ" moment , people only knew what the Church told them. They were told that an Holy power created the world , life, nature and its elements. Yet, there was a thing that opposed that way of seeing things ; Science.
Science quickly became our new way of getting new answers, and actually, the best way.
The anwsers people believe(d) is(was) a matter of faith. Yet, there's people that believe in Science and in Religion. The thing is, Religion is our heart, Science is our mind. Both can't live without each other. If one of them fails, the other one is there to help him, answering the question. It's a matter of philosophy. There's also questions that we can't seem to find an answer, which proves that there is something missing besides Religion and Science, which I believe that is our soul. Religion, our heart, Science, our mind, Life, our soul. "Why are we here?" "What's beyond death?" "Why" "Why" "WHY!"
Simple questions that can only be answered with the true equilibrium of the three states ; Religion , Science and Life. Those questions are to be answered by us. Since our birth, Religion and Science gave us the chance to live our Life as we want it. That's why Life is the last part of the puzzle. It just depends of peoples life. Science and Religion can't answer those questions, but our Life can, because we're the ones that give that answer. It's the so called life.
That's rather my theory about such subject, I'm sorry if I got away from the main thread but i got myself well explained I guess.
May your niece's soul rest in peace.
