They have announced though that any dashboard themes you have will work for the new update.

Please don't tell me this is compulsary, I really, REALLY, don't like this new update. The whole avatars thing is basically alot like PlayStation Home and all in all, the current dashboard does a grand job.
Unfortunately, it is compulsory...
There was a rumour that the avatars could be disabled but I don't think that made it so far.
Atleast it's better then the wii
My PG3 Theme is alot better then that.

Mm that is indeed a sexy theme. I honestly love the current dashboard. This update seems to change it way too much and make it too pretty and silly. I know that all my old themes will still work and whatnot and there is supposedly a possibility of disabling avatars, but still. I'd like it to look a little less kiddy and I'd like my theme not to be pushed out to only half a screen by a giant grey ball.
Its about time. Thought it was coming when we had 2 day downtime but nope :(
