[Website] Feedback for gaming website
Hey guys, I am finally ready to release my website into the public, but I was hoping you guys would take a look, and tell me your opinion on it. The address is http://ragus.110mb.com . You can leave a comment here, or on the shoutbox in the website. It is a website made specifically for guilds of the game Warhammer Online. My goal in mind when I was making it was to make reloading the entire page a thing of the past, and for the most part, I have succeeded. Oh ya, I know the page is kind of slow, I will be signing up for AN Hosting soon though. Well thanks! If you notice something that you think should be changed, please point it out! :D:

Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
Looks alright.
You need a black background me thinks, and some tweaking and sharpening of the layout. The glow around the swords is cut off, and it doesn't really look at a whole...but you use JS / Ajax I see, that's very nice :).

Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
I followed your suggestions Daevius, and made the BG black, I also moved the swords inward a bit, but it was chopping off part of the handles, so I had to move it back so the tip was right at the edge of the page. Replaced the vague orange marks at the top of the screen so its a small fire, sooo....is it better now? :D

Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
the background of the swords is like dark red.
i say to go on photoshop and change those to black to match.
basically make your whole logo just blend as one.
-
Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
I'm afraid I cannot make my whole logo "blend as one" because it causes problems with display on different size monitors. I did not see a dark red background behind the swords? There's just the swords, flame around them, and black...on my screen that is?

Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
there is a magentaish color that separates it. i checked with 2 comps, google chrome and ie8. =]
-
Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
Well thats why you are seeing the website differently....Chrome and IE8 are in beta stages, looks fine in firefox and IE7. Would you mind please posting a screenshot? :D

Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
Looks 100% better now, you can also make the sword's image larger, so the flames won't be cut off.
Also, the pictures on top (the header, 3 images) have weird white lines right or left...also I think the buttons should be centred, and the body needs a more clear border me thinks :), but for the rest...looks much better now :)

Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
Well....In my opinion, I could just take the swords, and make them 100% vertical, but it just wouldn't look right to me, I have it slanted 20%, and imo, It looks great as is. Hmm..about the white lines, I saw them when I was using a friends computer....I have no clue how they get there :/. I dont see them on my computer. I'll center the buttons right now. The border...well it fades...its supposed it...isnt it? lol
-
Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
Aha!!! figured out those white lines, was some text that was hidden behind the header/buttons, im removing it now :)

Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
In what way does the header look strange? Can you post a screenshot? or describe it in detail? thanks
-
Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
Sorry for the double post, was my internet lagging :( but anyway, I looked over the header, and changed it so it is much smaller, from about 150kb to 50kb, so it should load faster, and look basically the same.

Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
I'm sorry...I must be color blind, I cant see a bit of difference in colors where you circled in blue? Btw...what size monitor are you using?
-
Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
Mmm, good page, and good use of Javascript... there are little graphical "bugs" but it still looks and fuctions nice.
-
Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
I don't see anything with my eyes as well, but photoshop says there's about 4/256th of red involved...

Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
Argh...I found a problem that I just can't figure out... I changed the page around quite a bit..So, to cut to the chase, I told the text in the center to align left, then placed an <Iframe> that contained a html that basically showed an image 100% by 100% transparent. Thus i planned on putting that frame there invisibly, so the text stayed relatively on the lighter gray area. It shows perfectly in Firefox and Chrome, but in IE...sigh...its showing a bit ugly white rectangle...How do i get it transparent? If i set the bg color to black, it would clash with the lighter gray.
-
Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
Ah, I have that problem too.
Stupid IE won't let us change the iFrame's background =/
I'll try and google for it.
EDIT:
Does this work?
Just paste in <head>
Code:
<style type="text/css">
body {background-color: transparent}
</style>

Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
Problem with that is...I have the BG color set to black, if I set it transparent, page looks ugly white :(. Weird thing is...the iframe shows up white rather than black...
-
Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
Solved!!! I took a screenshot of the area where it was showing up right, cropped it in photoshop, stuck it into the iframe's html, and walla. Only thing is...its not 100% lined up...but actually doesnt look too shabby... Take a look and tell me what you think?
-
Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
In every page -except "home"- the images on the left show perfectly vertically aligned.
-
Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
You might have looked at it as i was quickly changing it. I had to change the javascript, add in another css table, adjust widths and all that, Just finished now, and i'm quite pleased :)

Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website

Re: [Website] Feedback for gaming website
Reload the page, it has a background, its just stubbornly slow sometimes. the good news is, probably later on today I will get the new host, bad news...gotta wait a couple of days for the nameservers to change :P.
