I know this is from 2005, but do you think these guys should have been cleared?

AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) -- A jury has decided that three Austin police officers did not use excessive force on a man after a traffic accident in September 2005.
Ramon Hernandez was beaten and shocked with a Taser by the police officers.
The jury has been deliberating since about 10:45 a.m. Thursday. In reviewing the evidence, jurors must decide whether Hernandez's civil rights were violated.
In closing arguments Thursday, Hernandez's attorney said the jury should stand up for what is right by saying, "Yes." She told the jury that the officers made excuses throughout the trial, changing their stories.
The attorney also showed jurors, one last time, the police dash-cam video, in which the officers were shown repeatedly punching Hernandez. She said he was fully restrained the entire time.
Yet the defense attorney representing the officers told jurors that justice was served, and Hernandez was accountable for leaving the scene of the accident. He was also combative, resistant and noncompliant.
The defense also said the jury should understand what happened before what was shown on the video, and the facts should decide the case, not emotions.
Officer Christopher Gray and Brad Heilman were cleared in criminal court. Joel Follmer was fired from the force for a violation of probation.

No I dont think it shoud've been cleared, though that's just me. I'm soft, and if he wasn't convicted of anything, then they shouldn't need to use that much force.

its not even that brutal doesnt show any blood or gore :/ just polices beating up innocent guy, happens more than you think..

Urgh this is the type of shit that convinced me not to be a police officer, sounds awesome job but then you have retards who abuse power and give everyone else a bad name

They were clearly punching that guy in the back for no reason, although I did see his hand move but that doesn't give them the right to punch him in the back meaninglessly.

None of you noticed the other officer standing on the guys neck? Could've killed him....

From what I see in America, officers are usualy on patrol on their own, obviouslly armed. Ive watched several police videos, and none tells me that they have been properly trained.

Shows the kind of power hungry people we have in this world <_<

if anyone noticed, it says he fled from the scene of a traffic accident. which im pretty sure is a federal offense.

and i doubt he started running before the cops got there. he probably had drugs and shit in his car. and screaming and yelling and trying to get away if obstruction of justice. and resisting arrest. oh snap he deserved it

Anyway if you guys watched Serpico you would understand
and it ain't just America its a normal thing.

I honestly don't have a problem with it, we only got to see a small proportion of what actually happened and didn't get to see anything leading up to the actually event, when your pinned on the ground people tend to tighten up their muscles and that's what could of happened, sure the guy in the middle that threw the first punch could of stopped punching him but that's the only way his going to learn not to move when cops are on him, I don't know about the other guy on the far left but it looked like he couldn't punch to save his life.

The water bit was stupid and makes the whole video look stupid in my opinion the guy [Hernandez] being on the ground sounded like his was in agony and crying and that's a sign of well pepper-spray? that could be the reason why the officer asked for water.

One other thing that I was thinking throughout the video was if he fled the scene of an accident then he could of had some sort of illegal substance in or in the car which surely the police would of found, for all we know he could of been on ICE or whatever they call it in America (meth I think) and everyone knows that the drug abusers often find a great burst of strength, that could account for why the officers wanted to subdue him.

They say his was handcuffed but from my eyes in the 20th - 26th second it looks like his hands are pushed down to the floor and his right hand was beside him? that's just my view on the video as I would rather use force against the suspected person then the person pick up a rock and hit me on the side of the head or something along those lines.
